Is it ok to vote for Kyle Haas now? I mean, the measure of a coach and his team is their final standing at the end of the year. It's great to win a league, but ultimately it's how deep you go into the playoffs that proves the strength and abilities of a team and their coaching staff. Beating up teams in the league is nice, but whoever is left standing in November says something about their adversity, depth, teamwork, stamina, and overall quality of a football program. It's important how you start, but always much more about how you finish. Is it safe to say that despite being targeted this year and not coaching the areas favorite team, maybe he's proved his worth, taking his team deep into the playoffs despite everything they faced...they have overcome so much this year, from injuries to playing a much tougher schedule, from coaching changes to having a huge target on their back every weekend as the team everyone loves to beat....and they are still standing at the end of the year while everyone else is at home, probably watching field hockey? Every team in the area had great seasons, from emmaus winning the league title to saucon pulling off another solid run to the playoffs, we could go down the list of every local team and point to the positives and what they accomplished. But in terms of rookie coach of the year, it would seem that we should look at how well the team played, and how often they succeeded in crunch time, a true testament of a champion on the gridiron. Kyle has been a staple in the valley, first as a player in the epc, then as a record setting quarterback in college. He has spent years in the valley coaching on the high school level, and has finally come full circle with his first opportunity to play the role of the head coach. He comes from a family that claims legendary Fritz Halfacre as the model to live up to, and he has been a highly respected and highly rated teacher in the school district for years. He truly is a role model on and off the field for his players and students, a well rounded coach who has put his time in not only in the classroom, but on the Lehigh valley gridiron scene. You may not be a fan of the catholic schools and their ability to win consistently every year, but can we really take anything away from a local boy who has put so much time into the youth of this area. Player, teacher, coach, father, the man deserves to be acknowledged for what he has accomplished. Thank you Kyle, for being the type of coach I would play for, any day

And isn't this rookie coach voting? I'm pretty sure some of these guys were head coaches in the area, like at central catholic in 2010? How does that work morning call, I'm sure someone on your staff would remember writing articles on that. It's not to take away from Harold or the emmaus staff (I am an emmaus grad, with strong ties), but it makes me question the definition of a 'rookie' in this area. Hey groller, are you responsible for this one?
