To much clutter on the new plates. I'm old School Bring back the Yearly Plates that were fun to collect. Like when we were kids waiting for the new car styles that came out every year we did the same thing in anticipation waiting for the new plates. BRING THEM BACK.

The new designs are annoying to read in that pictures are on the background. It is similar to trying to read print over a picture instead of over a plain page. Two pictures, even if not behind numbers or letters, make too many focal points. Still I appreciate the Illinois pride the designer intended to convey.

Why half of lincoln head, because it was shot off?

I want one. Is there a way to order and just pay?

As I told the Sun-Times on January 10, 2002 (look in your archives, on page 28), I still have the "plates I affixed way back in 86." They're in better shape then my current plates. Couldn't I just put my 2018 sticker on them?

Get rid of the Chicgo Skyline. Those of us who live downstate want no association with Chicago and Crook County.

I have lived in Missouri all my life but have traveled in Illinois for over 45 years to places like Danville, Moline, Springfield. I like the new design but I agree that the plate should show a different background.

I do know that Missouri will be getting a new plate starting in 2019 for our 200th anniversary in 2021 and there is a vote underway for that design. Multiple designs are shown so it will be up to the citizens. I remember the 1976 MO plate and it was quite vivid.

So who is paying for the new plates? The state who can't balance a budget$? The driver who is nickel and dimed to wits end? Really why change them, it is a license plate.

Actually neither. How about past governors behind bars or cryptkeeper Madigan surrounded by dollar signs.
    Honestly, a simple retro plate.

We are Illinois, not Chicago. It is an insult to be required to put the Chicago skyline on our cars. We in Rural Illinois consider Chicago to be the cause of much of Illinois problems. Design a license plate for rural Illinois which is the backbone of our state. Rural Illinois has produced two of the greatest presidents our country has ever had so Lincoln belongs on our rural plate.

Totally agree on the Chicago skyline comment. The new plates depict a state consisting of Chicago, Springfield and everything in between that is apparently still all farm country with no electricity.

I like everything but the Chicago skyline. We are Illinois....not Chicago
