Those in Cuba, members of the Communist Party, seem to give the impression of having lost a father; Cuban television presents them as sad and in a state of despair and disbelief. In Canada, Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, the son of former Canadian Prime Minister, Pierre Trudeau, said that “Fidel Castro was larger than life leader...[had] tremendous dedication and love for the Cuban people.. Very proud to have him as a friend.” Mr. Trudeau has elevated Fidel Castro to a god figure, somehow a sort of embarrassment to an atheist dictator and to Canadians in general.
In Miami, the capital of the Cuban exile movement, there was a lot of cheering, cries of joy and jubilation. Tears were shed by many island born baby boomer Cubans, whose parents made the ultimate sacrifice to bring them here to escape a communist dictatorship. Millennial Cuban Americans told the same story: how I wish my grandparents would have been alive to have lived this moment in history, emphasizing their participation in the festivities at Calle Ocho in Miami, in the name of their dead grandparents. “Presente” (I am here), said a young man in his early twenties, born in Miami.
But tears are being shed here in Miami and in Cuba for different reasons.
In all this river of tears and justifiable pain, adulation and disgust, one very important question is being asked in silence: when will there ever be reconciliation? Can it start now or soon?
The old communist guard in Cuba is so compromised that for them to entertain an opening would entail the questioning of their radical ideology and support for a bankrupt system that divided families and destroyed the Cuban economy and infrastructure, abused human rights and actually assassinated countless of thousands of its citizens for thinking differently than the communist. They are confined to a self-imposed censure that will ultimately be buried with their cinder.
But for those in Cuba who know the disaster of the Castro revolution and are young and thirsty for change, they must ask themselves the following question: should we wait till Raul Castro, Fidel’s brother, also passes away and see what happens then, or should we start now and embrace the struggle to emancipate ourselves from the Castro tyranny? The BBC recently played a tape on radio of some young Cuban girls in high school who were bussed from the countryside to participate in the morning of Fidel Castro, and they openly questioned why in Cuba there was no free speech and the internet readily available.
For nearly sixty years Cuba and its citizens have been living in a labyrinth of terror. Remember when Pope John was in Cuba in 1998, he made a call to the Cuban people not to be afraid, hoping that the repressed masses would find their way out of the labyrinth of silence, where freedom is lost.
Today in Cuba the dictator Fidel Castro is dead. The Communist party still controls the country with Raul Castro as its leader. At age 85, his days left on this earth are counted. But the Cuban people still have to defeat the system that has put chains on them. The only way out from being a hostage and fighting the labyrinth of terror is freedom. Do the Cuban people have the guts to do it? Or are they going to behave the docile ones and continue to live off remittances from relatives abroad, thus killing the incentive to be free?
Reconciliation is going to be difficult. Many in the exile community want justice, the kind that will charge hefty interest to those fanatics of the revolution that destroyed families, the rapid brigade members, the ones that pulled the trigger on innocent lives, and those who gave the orders.

A pesar de su importancia como el creador del desastre comunistoide en Cuba, ya estaba "muerto" hace años. Viejo, enfermo, y sobre todo con demencia senil, por esto ultimo lo vetaron de las cámaras hace como 10 años. Tan mal estaba, que si hubiera sobrevivido para sentarlo en el banquillo de los acusados, seria un acto mas bien simbólico porque no se acordaría ya de la mayor parte de sus fechorias. Es en realidad su hermano quien lleva las riendas del negocio, incluyendo manejar a Maduro -su títere- en Venezuela.

Realmente esta muerte no creo que signifique mucho para cuba en lo personal es un asesino menos que le queda a esa dictadura y desde hace mucho deberia haber desaparecido y tocando el tema de los cambios en cuba todo depende del grado de terror que le tengan a esta administracion de trunp que por todo lo dicho no parece facilitar las cosas en la isla por otro lado pudiera haber algun que otro cambio ya que por respeto al tiempo de lucha de fidel el hermano no quiso profundizar demaciado en estos cambios ,de aqui en adelante ya veremos como se desarrolla la politica interna en la isla la situacion continua siendo un dilema para la cupula militar que gobierna el pais ,es bien difisil hacer un pronostico porque existen muchos factores en juego y el principal a mi juicio es como se va a enfocar la atministracion de USA respecto a cuba y de ello dependera el rumbo a seguir del gobierno cubano
Hoy fuy despertado poo causa de los golpes que dio Sorge en la puerta de mi cuarto, y gritando" "Papa, se murio Fidel". Honradamente, no senti la menor pena por lo sucedido, ni aun asi por la muerte del ser inhumano y lleno de contradicciones que fue. Puedo decir, que fue el, el que me acabo con mis ilusiones durante mi juventud, con sus inventos de Servicio MIlitar. con sus guerras en Angola y Etiopia. Fue el hombre que nos facilito Educacion, y que despues nos dio la espalda, acabando con la Generacion del Siglo XX1. Nosotros ho fuimos nada mas que las mulas, los gusanos, los vende patrias de Miami y de Norteamerica. Los que teniamos un solo pantalon y dos camisas, los que sufriamos y padeciamos de hambre, por causa de su mala administracion economica. Y aun tengo en mi memoria la frase:"Puedes meter la mano (robar) pero no meter la pata (ir en contra de su revolucion). Una revolucion manipulada para unos cuantos. Siento tanta verguenza al ver cuanto latinoamericano hablan y repiten como papagallos, los "valores" de eate perro, que nunca hizo nada por el pueblo. Un hombre por el cual miles de cubanos se tuvieron que lanzar al mar, para largarse de su propia isla, un maniatico que tuvo el mundo a punto de una guerra mundial por sus fanaticas ideas en contra de los Estados Unidos. Un enemigo que se echo encima y del cual aun, no sabemos cual fue la causa de su odio. Asi recuerdo a Fidel, un tipo que mando a quemar l os libros de la universad de la Habana, por estar escritos en idioma ingles. Un hombre sadico, cuando se presto a utiliar a Elian como un pretexto para destruir al presidente Clinton. Es una lastima que halla muerto, de nuevo y definitivamente y no halla podido ver aun con mas majestuosidad la muerte de su famosisima "Revolucion". Siento tremenda pena, gracias a el sufri el embate de cada CDR, de cada reunion donde se hablaba tanta mierda y afin de cuenta, si querias lograr algo positivo,"ibas en contra de la Revolucion". Gracias a el, aprendi a odiar los simbolos patrios, tan manipulados con odio. Gracias a Fidel, el unico, el totalitarists, aprendi a odiar a Marti, la bandera, tan cagada por causas de tanto fusilamiento en su nombre y un himno que se fue de las manos, dandole apoyo a tanta basura mundial. Gracias Castro por tanta porqueria que fuiste, al frustar todas nuestras esperanzas por construir una Cuab mejor y mas firme.
