Chronic Pain definitely should be included on the list for ailments/diseases.

Hell, it was classified as a disses in 2012 I think.

Chronic neuropathic pain should also be right there with chronic pain as wet.

It has a massively detrimental effect on an individual's mental health. Increases potential for suicide. Reduces an individual's day to day ability to perform the simplest of things.

Like using the toilet or shower. Let alone stepping outside the four walls it contains you within indefinitely in the case of relentless and seemingly never ending bouts of acutely chronic spikes in said chronic neuropathic and chronic pain.

For a lot of individuals the two go hand in hand. And is extremely debilitating, has a mammoth effect on sociability with friends and family which ultimately leads to extremely deep and chronic episodes of depression bordering on suicidal tendencies more often than not.

Reduces ones self worth and self esteem on an of the Richter scale.

Leaves you feeling uselessly unnecessary in your mere existence solely to overcome most if not every absolute day. From one to the next.

Put a pain specialist in the others shoes to walk a mile and I guarantee their complete perceptron on the topic would drastically change.

For too many we're upto the eyeballs with a handful of different medications. All perfectly acceptable, legal despite the overwhelming statistics of deaths and health problems created solely by the long term side effects of these sanctioned drugs.

It's ludicrous to deny these too often overlooked facts that individuals suffer and persevere continually and day to day.

Its relentless and should not be ignored , under mined and passed off in the ways that it is. It was listed as a disease for crying out loud. 2012 I think I read somewhere.

Don't ignore this any longer. Don't treat people as drug seeking junkies either it's disgraceful.

Also the vast and largest majority who need this aren't in a position to afford the over inflated prices that medical cannabis poses to be marketed at.

To satisfy the massive corporations demanded returns to satisfy themselves and shareholders alike.

It also needs to be financially viably attainable to these individuals. Otherwise if they can't attain the medical cannabis it's just going to push more and more people further into fueling the so called black market!!

    It's a joke really ????????????????????????????

I've been in chronic pain since I broke my back in three places , Drs have had me on many & varied drugs over the last eight years including 240 mg a day of opiates , this year I took my life back thanks to cannabis & have now been pharma drug free for the last three months NO HELP FROM THE MEDICAL PROFFESSION !! My gp wrote me a referral to go on medical marijuana trials for withdrawal & pain relief ,the prof of pain management told me I should be taking more opiates ?? Idiot !! As the opiates were killing me , destroying my liver , kidneys etc and didn't have any quality of life .
Since I've been pharma free , my life has had a huge turnabout where I'm actually moving again , thinking clearly again ,all thanks to marijuana , bless the herb !

Wouldnt it be wonderful if it was available to anyone at all?!?! Instead of taking many tixic pharma drugs for various conditions such as chrinic pain, asthma and Complex PTSD, i just take cannabis. I will not stop.

Patients using medical marijuana to control chronic pain reported a 64 percent reduction in their use of more traditional prescription pain medications known as opioids, a University of Michigan study finds.

The 185 patients from a medical marijuana dispensary in Ann Arbor also reported fewer side effects from their medications and a 45-percent improvement in quality of life since using cannabis to manage pain.

Researchers from the U-M School of Public Health and Medical School said their results suggest that for some people, medical marijuana may be an alternative to more common prescription painkillers at a time when national health leaders are asking the medical community to cut back on prescribing drugs like Vicodin and OxyContin.

"We're in the midst of an opioid epidemic and we need to figure out what to do about it," said Kevin Boehnke, lead author of the study and doctoral student in the School of Public Health's Department of Environmental Health Sciences. "I'm hoping our research continues a conversation of cannabis as a potential alternative for opioids."

This should not even have to go to a poll, the answer is YES to All of the above. It is proven to alleviate pain and stress which of course can only better ones lifestyle and happiness as there would be no longer a need for prescription opiates being prescribed like lollies.

Did someone point this out to the good doctor ---->

“With chronic pain there is **strong evidence that lifestyle change can wind down a sensitised nervous system and reduce pain**,” Dr Hayes wrote.

Ms Taylor said the cannabis oil appeared to be helping her to change her lifestyle. Previously, she couldn’t walk to the letterbox. Now she walks her dog.

WHY DO THESE DOCTORS REFUSE TO LISTEN ?

  • Brenda Kanada - 7 years ago

Her story is MY story! I honestly don't know why this is an issue in 2016!

  • Gail - 7 years ago

The State govt should be mature enough to see the economic, health and societal benefits of full and complete legislation of cannabis / hemp for all its uses. They need to take a bold step to improve the lives and the economic outlook for NSW voters. In my book, any political party that supports the continuance of prohibition and the black market, supports organised crime.

Legalise it for god's sake, people are suffering, does contemporary society have any compassion?
