Should cities be allowed to use red-light, traffic cameras?

I would truly like to see this process taken forward with a live feed of red light offenders. It's very possible these violations are due to IMPAIRED DRIVERS. Lives could be saved. And to those who say there are circumstances in which they MUST run a red light, after 40+years of driving I can't think of a single one. Besides, you could have your day in court if desired! I have always been treated fairly when pulled over for speeding by some very compassionate & understanding Officers - even escorted at a high speed on the way to a hospital once! This is the only negative aspect I can think of with the use of cameras - no human element OR ASSISTANCE IN EMERGENCIES.

Cameras cannot take into account weather conditions, traffic, other violators that may have caused you to avoid them in order not to be hit. Until cameras can take all things into account that may happen on why you may still be in an intersection when a light changes, even something as simple as waiting on the other lane, then no, they cannot replace human thoughts. They are used strictly to make money. I also see more cameras than actual officers on the street on any given day.

Only if they can build into them (cameras) Good Judgement and Fairness and even Mercy. That I have experienced from Police Officers.

Only because of the way the cameras are being deployed as uncover officers if cameras were in the actual spot were their is already placed cameras them use them as speed traps different story
