Did the council make the right decision in not moving forward with the rezone change at the site of a proposed The Ruckus?

I have mixed feelings about this. I live about 1 1/2 blocks away and I don't think it would bother me. If I lived right next door though, I wouldn't like it. I think a small professional office would be ideal in this spot.

And so...for the foreseeable future, we have the good fortune to stare at an ugly empty building.

Perhaps the empty camera store (going on 8 years now) located by other businesses at Ludington and North would be a better choice !

    Dear editors
The choices for this poll are poorly written and full of bias. A simple "yes" or "no" choice would have been more appropriate. There are many different reasons why a person would vote yes or no, but the way you wrote the reply boxes in the respondent to agree with the choice in its entirety. Regrettably your other recent poll on zoning issues carried similar flaws. The poll as written has little value.

    Bad decision

I thought it was a good fit for the neighborhood. The lot has been in use for a business for more than 80 years. It's unreasonable to fight against replacing a business with a business. The lot is too small for an apartment building and it's not in a desirable location for a single family home, so it's inevitable that it will be used for another business. The neighbors may regret letting this one go if the next proposals are less community friendly.

I know a fair amount of people in that neighborhood who did not want a burger/custard joint in their backyard. Parking is an issue in Tosa and many neighbors are already frustrated with the parking issues further east on North Ave. Plus, Tosa could use a healthy place to eat, like a Green Kitchen instead of another burger place.

The Colectivo Cafe on 68th & Wells has added fantastic value as a relatively new neighbor in that Tosa Neighborhood.

They tore down a similarly decrepit building & provide services that add value to surrounding properties.

I would live next door & upstairs if they offered it at the Ruckus had it been built on North Ave.

That said, the use of spot zoning has great potential to be problematic & needs further evaluation on its application(s)...

Poor choice to not to allow Ruckus. though zoned for residential it was previously a commercial property and should stay that way. Now if Ruckus wants to stay in tosa there is a larger chance that new land will have to be zoned for commercial (IE: sanctuary woods)
