Agree with John and Julie. Do not put youth sailing at risk. Ironic that Perry Cohen Foundation donated to the US Sailing Center of Martin County to support youth sailing scholarships, yet this proposed legislation that is supposed to answer the tragic incident involving Perry could undo the very same sailing programs that his namesake foundation supports. Not enough discussion or thought has gone into this bill. How about enhanced safety training programs for boaters of ALL ages?

People need to actually read what is in this bill before voting. It is ill conceived and poorly written. There are many sailboats between 10 and 17 feet, that are self bailing, self rescuing and very safe for children to operate. Further, this bill, as written will destroy hundreds of youth sailing programs across the state since many instructors are college students aged 18-21. These instructors undergo training and are certified by US Sailing or the American Sail Association.

I would like to know why so many Americans are so quick to give up our freedoms. And why people support laws criminalizing parents. It is said that the average American commits 3 felonies every day before dinner. Let's start repealing some laws, let's not add new crimes every legislative session.
