It was always City Hall until the new building then it was called the Civic Centre.
The name City Hall has stuck with me and as it has with many people.
City Hall is more a more fitting name . Many other countries have the name City Hall. It's more universal.
Civic Center always sounded like a recreational facility to me.
I am all for the Name City Hall. Bravo!

We are a municipality. Hence the name should be or could be Municipality or Municipal Hall.

I would like to know the name of the person (s) who changed the name without public discussion!

Since it is an imposed government, let's call it the DUMA. So if Sydney wants to be a city again lets take our towns out of this trap.

Why the change? Not enough real issues in the Municipality? The building was called the Civic Centre since it was built. I see nothing wrong with it remaining that way. Maybe changing the name make some useless officials feel good that they actually did something.

I don't think either name is totally bang on. "IF' the "office" represents the entire CBRM and not just Sydney, then how can it be called "City Hall"? The term "civic centre" is more often used to identify a recreational facility in my experience. On the other hand, it wouldn't be very palatable to call it the Regional Municipality Office, or would it?
