I loved this show and Ian Somerhalder all the way up to the last finale. How could the show end their epic relationship and reunion in a montage? And there was no chemistry between them.. nothing. It was really disappointing and from what I've read I blame his wife and their insecurities surrounding Elena. Ian was a better actor as a bachelor and whatever is going on in his love life now is only hurting his career. Which is sad because a face like that could do anything with freedom or at least support and trust

I have loved TVD from season one. I have followed it religiously. I loved the characters. Damon being my favourite. Followed by Stephan, Elena, Bonnie, Caroline & Enzo. I have just finished watching the 8th series. I couldn't bring myself to watch it when It was aired on our screens. I wasn't ready to say goodbye to my favourite series. I have spent last couple of days watching back to back & the tears I have spilt I could of put that hell fire flooding mystic falls again.
I live in hope they will make a 9th series having seen the ending it's impossible. But I can dream.
I will never truly say goodbye as I will start right back to the beginning of series one from time to time to reacquaint myself with old friends. Thank you TVD for bringing mayhem romance darkness magic hope love into our living rooms. I will miss It.

It's so sad that Stefan had to die, why they all couldn't be like they were before in first season..
That would have been really nice. All of them reuniting together as one... That!! i would have call an end...
But anyways! I'll really miss the vampire diaries a lot, I'm so sad that it's finish.. I will alway love TVD, it has been my favorite series and it will remain my favorite series... ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I'll really it.. ????????

I love that Damon and Elena were back together and I did like that Bonnie was traveling with Enzo which was his Spirit however it wish that it was really him. I was also devastated that stuff and had to die. He finally married Caroline and now she is a widow and he is gone forever but you can't always end on all happy notes some bad things have to happen and good things to make it a great serious so all in all it was great

I loved the series but it cud have been much better if stephen n elena ended up together coz what i feel is that they started on a very gud note and in between it was not tht much fascinating about the things getting into love triangle but everyone has their own opinion n thinking ...it was nice watching all the seasons ...my fav ones are first three ????

Loved the every season there is. But i just hate the fact that stefan had to die. It should have been someone else. I was so hyoed about both of them not having to go to "hell" with katherine but then he explained to elena and i got so pissed and at the end where damon was at his grave it made me cry. I really wish that there will be a 9th season and if there will be. Somehow bonnie will bring stefan back to life. He doesnt have to be a vampire but atleast alive again. Jane honestly, I liked the show even after Lexa briefly, I managed but people like you make me hate it and not actually want it to succeed because I hate to see bullies and bigots get what they want. The reason they said Damon was a better man is because he WAS a better man...focus on the word WAS. Prior to becoming vampires, the two brothers were very different. Damon was the mixer one and the better man. Stefan turned him into a vampire and Stefan was the ripper. Damon was ruined by Katherine and spent his whole life trying to rescue her. And finally he meets someone that looks like her but is actually a good person. Damon was changed by the whole Kathrine thing and it took a lot for him to get his humanity back. Finally, Stefan sees the brother he knew when they were human. The brother that truly was the better man. Go back and watch those old flashback episodes. It's very clear that Damon the human was the nicest brother. And a real romantic. A knight in shining armor if you will. And he got dumped on for Stefan. I was thrilled that Stefan admitted which brother used to be the good one. Damon. And I was glad to see him go back to who he really is. A true romantic. It was time for him to end up with the girl.
Btw, I'm so excited about Klaus and Caroline. I'd love them to raise their children together but for it to start as a romance when he brings his daughter to Caroline's school. Oh that would be sooooooo fun! I think they had the most chemistry and excitement of any romance on the show. She will be so hard headed just like he is. It won't be like Damon and Elena at all. Caroline is much more strong willed than Elena. She will be a trip. And she will want to plan their parties and host events, etc. And she will drive Klaus up a wall. But it will be passionate. I'd love to watch that. Especially when you throw their children into it. Endless plots.

I think Damon and Elena's reunion was disappointing. There was absolutely no dialogue between them. It was rushed and left me wanting more. After Elena met up with her family and Damon met up with Stefan, I would have liked to see all three of them together at the end.

They had a few fuck ups that made me say really and roll my eyes. " like how stupid was this seriously." But they gradually got me to keep watching and ignore or fix it in someway and keep me excited and in love with the characters. They seemed so true and on point of who they were. I was expecting more for this last episode more drama and scary situation and tears. But what we got from it was a weird tying up of loose ends with Katherine she seemed really weak and didn't even put up a fight I bet cause she was human when she died and then yeah Stefan dying holding Katherine was plain stupid like really he had to do that why not stab her or just throw her out into the hallway wth literally. Then Vickie ringing the bell over and over was kinda weird and they just let her and also they fixed it with it being powerful enough to destroy hell so that was alright I guess. And then the ending of it all Elena and Damon meeting again it was beautiful but I was hoping for a unforgettable scene with more different lighting so it made it feel unforgettable and like passionate but fresh and stuff and they ending with all the dead people coming back or some coming back was pretty cool I get it kinda makes you think and let you be the judge of how you make the characters end up and mystic falls. It made me also feel like it was x men with the school and stuff lol neat and 3 million dollars!!!! What !! Holy cow fuckin rich motha fuckin klaus that bastard;) ps...Elena is my Girl. Yumm

Hello, My name is Jermee and I hope the writers of the Oorginals or vampire diaries see my comment. I am really interested in the romance of the Tv shows, and I believe that pitting Caroline on The Orginals is actually a great idea. They can continue their romantic relationship they started on Vampire Diaries. Caroline can be the one who changes Klaus for the better. I haven't watched the Orginals in a long time, but that's because the romantic plots in the story started to fall. I hope that my idea is considered, and that when the Orfinals final season does end, everyone ends up with who they're supposed to be with, like in Vampire Diaries.

I wish we could've seen some of Damon and Elena's human life together. Their normal, human path together. I feel that reunion was pretty weak. A slow motion walk with a weird look on Ian's face? Come on! I'm rewatching the series and Damon shows more emotion when he sees Elena at the Originals' ball - that should be multiplied by a million for this moment. Look at all he went through to get that moment. Also - the article that says that Damon wasn't a part of Elena's afterlife... I took that clip to mean that Elena had passed first and Damon hadn't passed yet. He's wearing a different outfit when we see him show up at stefan's door vs when Elena was walking down the street with him. In my mind, their initial meet up was with their families and then they found each other after. They spent much of their lifetime missing them.

To answer someone's question Caroline probably didn't want the cure since she has to be there for her kids and also she'd have to take it from Damon and depending where they are in their lives taking it from him would cause him to age and die since hes old as dirt like stephan. When they took it from elena she was still young so only aged a few years maybe or however long it is has been maybe thats why her makeup wasnt that great to make her look somewhat older. Anyways, as always i find holes in the story like yea they could have allowed Stephan to live. kill her and jump to where damon was right before the fire hit. and when they should vampire run but they only regular run sometimes that annoys me like when caroline was running to the house on the previous episode before it blew up but she vampire ran out of the school or wherever it was when stephan said to get out of there. What u cant vampire run in a wedding dress? Lol but i think stephan needed to die like he said for himself. This was his redemption for everyone he had killed and for being a ripper and for turning his brother into the vampire he was. I think they should have shown us more glimpses of damon and elenas life together before they found peace. Like flashes of them getting married and growing old together showing us a lot of time had passed. Definitely hope to see Caroline in the originals. He said he'd be her last love :)

It wasnt bad. I wasnt happy about stefan dying but if i needed closure from the show i got it unlike other series that just leave you hangin #onetreehill. I dont get though how elena was able to physically interact with the dead when no one else could. Plus i gave up on the originals a long time ago.... does klaus' letter mean i have to jump bac in it. Is caroline goin to be a staple in the originals now? All in all it was good. Just dont know what to watch to replace it feling #empty

Extreme disappointment after over 8 years of watching this show.
They did not NEED to kill Stephan. He could have stabbed her and thrown her into the hell fire. Katherine never woke up immediately after being stabbed, so there was time. On top of that the twins could have siphoned the magic from the room Elena was trapped in! Let the damn town burn!
Secondly so what, Carloline had to watch all her friends and daughters die? She was the only vampire left and ended up alone?
Hated this ending. The reunion between Damon and Elena was weak as hell. Waited TWO SEASONS for their reunion and that's what we get. Cheat us with only 16 episodes and then end it that way?? Awful.

Hi! Love the show! The ending not so much. Let me just say a few things though. The reason we didn't get a better Damon & Elaina ending is not Nina's fault it's Nikki Reed's fault. In case you don't know that's Ian Somerhaulder's (Damon's Real Wife). She didn't even want Nina to come back for this finale. So I'm sure she put her husband into a crap position and said it's like this or else. Does anyone understand what I'm saying. I do think that Nina could have done a better acting job also. And her makeup was horrible too. As far as the direction the tool the finale in; I am so so right now. I cried a lot for some of the moments that were heartbreaking and at other moments I felt irritated and cheated. I wish if they couldn't have made it a 2 hour finale then at least made the season 22 or 23 episodes the same as every other. This would have given them the air time to show the direction everyone's life was heading. It would have been bitter sweet to see Elaina & Damon live life-Work, Children, etc. So anyway I'd say I'd give this finale a 4.5/10. I will miss TVD very deeply and when I started watching I was in a very dark place in my life and this show simply got me through it! Thanks to all the actors and everyone involved. It was an amazing 8 years that I'm so so sad to see go!

Everyone should have taken the cure and became human!!! I also think that Stefan & Caroline should of began their lives together & Damon & Elena together!!!! I also wish that some how Bonnie could have brought Enzo back so she could get her happy ending!!! I did like the peace ending that was awesome!!!! It felt like you guys didn't put enough effert. There could of been a better ending but you guys likes like killing someone off. Why not brig the Originals to deal with that bitch Kathy. Kalus or Elijah would of been alibe after the he'll fire. Could of brang one of them back.
I feel like they ruined The Vampire Diraises ending. I was hoping for something much Better then that shit. I think some of the comments on this page are rediculous. I do think they could have elaborated a little more on Elaina and Damon... did they have kids? Why did they get separated after death? I thought it was really cool how they brought everybody back even if it was just a cameo. They even brought back the old man that had altshiemers, Titi's grandfather? He played in the car wash scene where Bonnie started the fire... anyway, I thought it was really cool how they did that. All in all it was pretty good just the Damon and Elana thing could have been better. I am surely going to miss my Friday night with TVD, 8 seasons is a long time. God bless them all and I hope I get to see them in other Tv shows or maybe movies. Take care everyone!

I was slightly disappointed in the ending. It felt rushed and I was confused. I understand Stephan got peace and I was okay with that. I think it should of emphasized Damon and Elenas relationship more. I was sad they didn't have more of a special moment not even a single "I love you". The ending was confusing did they live a long life have kids etc? And what's carolines story? The boarding school was cute but what about her love life? Will she reunite with Klaus? I hope she does. The only ending that made sense was Bonnie's ending. Besides that it was pretty confusing. Wish it could of been longer and gave more answers.

One correction. The Salvatore Boarding House was not Stefan and Damon's childhood home.
Their childhood home is shown a few times in Season 1. Stefan even takes Elena to the ruins of the home.

I cant believe its all over now. I have this sick feeling in my stomach things will never be the same again. There wont be a show like that again. It did end on a good note but would have liked to have seen the brothers on the spin off The Originals. Wish no one had to die.

The finale depended alot on how much time ELANA was willing to show up for. Im sure the writers would have made it 2 hours long or even 2 episodes long if Elana would have agreed. I think the ending was amazing- however i would have liked to see more of Stelanas life together- marriage, kids (although i do think Elana had a ring on her marriage finger; would have liked to see her in a dress etc.) I do think that parts of the episodes leading up to the finale had some rushed/ unthought parts in it but overall i think the writers did an amzing job without elana in the show it wouldnt have been easy to say the least. Stefan sacrificing himself for Damon was perfect- Stefan always blamed himself for turning Damon vampire and Stefan finally got to do the right thing by his brother. Stefan and Caroline are wierd- Elana owns his heart and i still wanted Stefan to say i love you before he parted Elana! Although Stefan moving on i guess was necessary. Hopefully Caroline will be in the Originals. No show will ever be as epic or as emotional as the Vampire Diaries, what a beautiful show that will be forever missed ????

Loki - Stefan would age quickly and die without the cure because he was 150 years old. Without the cure in his blood, those 150 years quickly caught up to him. However Elena was only a vampire for a few years or so. When the cure was removed from her, she was still only 20 something years old.

I loved this show, but did not like the ending! Didn't make sense that Stefan would age quickly, once he took some of his blood in a syringe to make Damon human. Bonnie took some of Elena's blood to make Stefan human, and she didn't age fast. I didn't like the rush for everyone to get to the afterlife either. We just got Elena and Damon back together, and then (after a supposed long life) she's holding his hand and "poof" they are both dead, and with their families, not each other. Very strange ending. So now Caroline is the only vampire left - just awful.

Starting with the first season this love was about "true love"! Did I miss something but the show told us that no matter what Stefan and Elena were meant to be and that no matter what they would always end up together. The writer of the first two seasons was awesome but then the wheels came of this bus. Damon was the worst character on the show but gets the happy ending??? Again WTF!!! This is like Elijah tell Klaus he is the moral and better man. WTF!! I mean really writers. Next time stick with what the viewers like and want and not who you like!

Ugh at the Delana's fans whining. First of all, Stefan died for Damon so he could be with Elena. WTF? He died to save the brother that killed his best friend, his Uncle, stole his girlfriend and never apologized for any of it. And not only did the writers force feed that ridiculous Steroline relationship on the viewers as a consolation prize for him losing Elena to the bad brother, he had to call Damon the better man??? I am sorry, the Damon and Delena worship this show has taken since Season 4 is what really killed this show.

Disappointed at the ending. Not just the last episode but the 3 last episodes leading up to the ending. After 8 years of watching this show I expected more. I understand someone had to die but they could have done it better. Stefan dying was absurd.. no reason he had to die he could have just left Karoline there and jumped into that room with Damon. The ending felt So rushed. It did not show the Love Damon and Elena have- just didn't do it justice at all.. Stefan and Caroline should have never been together- completely forced relationship. And to get to see their wedding but not Elena and Damon's is just stupid.. idk- the storyline sucked at the end and the finale should have been two hours because it was totally rushed. Did not do the show justice at all.

I needed more. I expected glimpses of Damon and Elena getting married, swinging kids on a swing set, etc. The show is all about supernatural characters just wanting the natural for themselves, so I felt that was missed at the end. I know this is all implied, but I feel as though my 8 years spent watching the show could have been more thoroughly rewarded. I'm sorry, but I didn't care as much about seeing Caroline and Stephan getting married as I did Damon and Elena. I just wanted a tiny bit of downtime with Elena and Damon. I felt like Nina resumed her Katherine role at the same caliber, but I felt like Elena and Damon were not the same together. I felt like it was odd that there was more of a moment between Elena and Stephan than there was between even Elena and Damon. Felt like they let their personal lives interfere with their professional honestly. It needed to be a 2 hour finale for sure. I feel empty now. The Originals is not nearly as good as TVD. I give this series finale 5 bones out of 10. Forgive my pessimism.

I think this last episode made me sob more than when Elena left. I honestly think this was epic in a way but not. I loved the fact that They showed all the main characters that left and died. Including Elenas family, I really didn't like how Stefan had to die but he died as a hero saving his brothers love and for Elena. I think this was not much epic of him dying but I still love this show. This was epic and it was like reading a long novel with a sweet heartbreaking ending. I don't think I ever loved a show as much as this one!!

The fact that Damon was made out to be the "better man" is ridiculous. Stefan has always done nothing but be selfless and caring towards everyone. It's just sad the show started with Stefan wanting to be a human with elena but Damon, the selfish brother got everything stefan wanted. And Stefan and Elena had sooo much more chemistry in their scenes in the finale, Damon and Elena didn't even come close. I am glad Bonnie got to live though and somewhat a happy ending but Stefan deserved much better.

The way it ended with the letter from klaus to Caroline has me wondering if this means she will be featuring in the originals and that would be really cool! Their relationship would be a lot like Elena and Damon's, the good trying to change the bad! I wish Stefan didn't die but I'd really like to see a character travel from the vampire diaries to the originals. Why was Jeremy not reunited with Elena? I seen him at the new Salvatore school but would have been more fitting to see him with his sister, and that leads me to the fast paced conclusion that took a lot of putting together before I figured it out leading me to finding this page with a better explanation. I love the show too much to ever hate any episode but I wish they would have focused on the goodbye so viewers weren't as lost. I would have liked to see a glimpse of Elena and Damon's long love life to be completely satisfied but oh well I will love this show and I will miss it.

I read the interview and thought the "necessity" of killing Stephen was completely ABSURD. Way to be cliche! It was a cheap tear-jerker. And the crumb of happiness with Elaina and Damon desolved into total CONFUSION! Were they dead? What happened!? Why separated? WTF!?!!! Fine to show old characters, but what a hurried, confusing, sappy mess. Kinda hated it ????

I must say I was disappointed with how the series ended. I didn't like the fact that they killed Stefan. I thought that there will be a happy ever after for all of them. Stefan and Caroline will be happily married, Elena will wake up somehow (which she did) and be with Damon, and everybody will be able to live a normal life after they eliminated all the evils surrounded them. First part was going great until the end which confuses the heck outa me! All of a sudden Elena and Damon reuniting with their loved ones....because they're dead?!?They could've ended the series another way. Seriously! However, as disappointing as the ending was, I shed tears and I will definitely miss TVD for sure! TVD is the only show I look forward to watching every week, and now...I have nothing to look forward to watching anymore :(. Thank you TVD. I will miss you!

done too fast. Maybe if it had been more detailed and longer I could have been ok with Stefan dying. Why did Stefan die? Made no sense. He gave his blood to Damon but how does that remove the cure from Stefan such that he would age and die very fast? Big hole in the story.

I didn't like it, it was really forced, they should have had like a two hour season finale or something. That was all just mishmash and didn't really make a lot of sense, they bring everybody back together, then to just immediately fast forward their lives to them supposedly dying somehow. Because all of a sudden Elena sees her dead family and Damon is with Stefan again. Which like 10 seconds earlier she was just leaving The mystic woods in a nurses outfit holding hands with Damon walking down the street saying Damon doesn't think he'll see his brother again. It was terrible. Also the actress that plays Katherine and Elena was not bringing her A game. She was f believable as Katherine. The attitude Katherine usually portrays is nothing like Elena and this episode barely showed their differences. Basically just Elena with curly hair. Really disappointed.

I have loved TVD for 8 years. Every Thurs or Fri I waited anxiously to see what crazy antics would happen to these characters and to stare adoringly at Ian Somerhalder, (god I will miss his sexy ass!) I had mixed feelings coming into tonight bc I felt like This past season was so good and it want ready to wrapped up yet. There were times I felt like I was watching a Lifetime movie in that the whole season was really good, and then BAM it just wraps everything up in the last 5 minutes! Very lifetime movie Esque: anticlimactic! I felt like they tried to wrap 8 seasons worth of epic stories, love and character development into one quick, very commercial interrupted one hour finale and This show deserved better than that. For god sakes, at least a 2 hour finale please!! It was too rushed and makes me sad that it ended that way. Although I loved all the cameos, and think there were some very genuine moments that held true to The nature of TVD, it was not a win for me. I will say I Loved the shout out to klaus though. Hands down best "villain" the show ever had! Bottom Line, I will miss TVD no matter how crappy it ended. It will always be one of my favorite shows.
Ps. What is it with Ian Somerhalder being on shows where in the last episode everyone dies?!? I deidicated 6 years of my life to LOST just to find out they were all dead and now 8 years to TVD and they're all dead too!!!! What's up with that?!!??
That hour a day will be missed truly. The show and cast is a part of me now forever. The show will go down as my top 3 shows if all times. Thank you for the last 8 seasons, my time well spent.

I enjoyed the episode. I just the ending when it showed Damon and Elena's deaths but I agree Caroline's story could definitely continue on the originals. But overall I think they tied everything nicely. Sad the Stefan had to die t ok save Damon as and Mystic Falls.
I loved this show and Ian Somerhalder all the way up to the last finale. How could the show end their epic relationship and reunion in a montage? And there was no chemistry between them.. nothing. It was really disappointing and from what I've read I blame his wife and their insecurities surrounding Elena. Ian was a better actor as a bachelor and whatever is going on in his love life now is only hurting his career. Which is sad because a face like that could do anything with freedom or at least support and trust

I have loved TVD from season one. I have followed it religiously. I loved the characters. Damon being my favourite. Followed by Stephan, Elena, Bonnie, Caroline & Enzo. I have just finished watching the 8th series. I couldn't bring myself to watch it when It was aired on our screens. I wasn't ready to say goodbye to my favourite series. I have spent last couple of days watching back to back & the tears I have spilt I could of put that hell fire flooding mystic falls again.
I live in hope they will make a 9th series having seen the ending it's impossible. But I can dream.
I will never truly say goodbye as I will start right back to the beginning of series one from time to time to reacquaint myself with old friends. Thank you TVD for bringing mayhem romance darkness magic hope love into our living rooms. I will miss It.

I love that Damon and Elena were back together and I did like that Bonnie was traveling with Enzo which was his Spirit however it wish that it was really him. I was also devastated that stuff and had to die. He finally married Caroline and now she is a widow and he is gone forever but you can't always end on all happy notes some bad things have to happen and good things to make it a great serious so all in all it was great
I loved the series but it cud have been much better if stephen n elena ended up together coz what i feel is that they started on a very gud note and in between it was not tht much fascinating about the things getting into love triangle but everyone has their own opinion n thinking ...it was nice watching all the seasons ...my fav ones are first three ????

* Camille is useless get over it. I’m pretty sure the only reason you like her is because you think she makes Klaus a “better” person, which is a lie. She excused his behavior due to him being broken. She does not make him better in any way. She didn’t like being compelled by him, yet she didn’t mind it when he did it to others. If you’re going to cry over someone’s death, cry over Kol’s, if he died. Klaus can and will be happy again, just not with Camille.
* I’m not upset about Cami’s death at all. Her whole storyline was just to be Klaus’ love interest – that’s boring. She was annoying and self-righteous. I will not miss her and I’m quite sure most of us will forget about her come next season. Didn’t shed one tear because she was virtually irrelevant to me.
* That’s life. Deal, because he is a Mikaelson and what part of Mikaelson curse do you and other little delusional Camille people fans don’t you understand. Nobody was saying anything about Elijah having the same experience. Get over it, Camille wasn’t all that great, so stop acting like she was. They can’t bring back vampires.
* Bonnie literally saves every single person on TVD. They can’t even survive without her. The same cannot be said for Cami. She was a prop – an unnecessary part of the show that made me want to fast forward every time she came on screen. There is no comparing Bonnie to Cami and the fact that you even put them on the same level is offensive.

She truly needs to pay for that, I’m glad Klaus took a step back from Cami, he don’t need someone like that, he’s better off.
* Klaroline was beyond amazing! Oh, yes Klaus will forever be in love with Caroline!! Cami who? Now, seriously, they should kill her off or pair her with Vincent.
* I gave up The Originals at the end of S2 largely because of Cami and the headscratcher that is the Klamille relationship. It’s always made zero sense to me, especially from her prespective (really WHAT does she get out of knowing Klaus? Besides constant danger. And she’s always been weirdly unconcerned with the fact that he’s a mass murderer which would surely be a deal breaker for most).
* Cami also crossed the line when she endangered the original family’s lives by stealing their white oak toy. Does she deserve to have her life taken as well?

The reason they said Damon was a better man is because he WAS a better man...focus on the word WAS. Prior to becoming vampires, the two brothers were very different. Damon was the mixer one and the better man. Stefan turned him into a vampire and Stefan was the ripper. Damon was ruined by Katherine and spent his whole life trying to rescue her. And finally he meets someone that looks like her but is actually a good person. Damon was changed by the whole Kathrine thing and it took a lot for him to get his humanity back. Finally, Stefan sees the brother he knew when they were human. The brother that truly was the better man. Go back and watch those old flashback episodes. It's very clear that Damon the human was the nicest brother. And a real romantic. A knight in shining armor if you will. And he got dumped on for Stefan. I was thrilled that Stefan admitted which brother used to be the good one. Damon. And I was glad to see him go back to who he really is. A true romantic. It was time for him to end up with the girl.
Btw, I'm so excited about Klaus and Caroline. I'd love them to raise their children together but for it to start as a romance when he brings his daughter to Caroline's school. Oh that would be sooooooo fun! I think they had the most chemistry and excitement of any romance on the show. She will be so hard headed just like he is. It won't be like Damon and Elena at all. Caroline is much more strong willed than Elena. She will be a trip. And she will want to plan their parties and host events, etc. And she will drive Klaus up a wall. But it will be passionate. I think Damon and Elena's reunion was disappointing. There was absolutely no dialogue between them. It was rushed and left me wanting more. After Elena met up with her family and Damon met up with Stefan, I would have liked to see all three of them together at the end.

They had a few fuck ups that made me say really and roll my eyes. " like how stupid was this seriously." But they gradually got me to keep watching and ignore or fix it in someway and keep me excited and in love with the characters. They seemed so true and on point of who they were. I was expecting more for this last episode more drama and scary situation and tears. But what we got from it was a weird tying up of loose ends with Katherine she seemed really weak and didn't even put up a fight I bet cause she was human when she died and then yeah Stefan dying holding Katherine was plain stupid like really he had to do that why not stab her or just throw her out into the hallway wth literally. Then Vickie ringing the bell over and over was kinda weird and they just let her and also they fixed it with it being powerful enough to destroy hell so that was alright I guess. And then the ending of it all Elena and Damon meeting again it was beautiful but I was hoping for a unforgettable scene with more different lighting so it made it feel unforgettable and like passionate but fresh and stuff and they ending with all the dead people coming back or some coming back was pretty cool I get it kinda makes you think and let you be the judge of how you make the characters end up and mystic falls. I am really interested in the romance of the Tv shows, and I believe that pitting Caroline on The Orginals is actually a great idea. They can continue their romantic relationship they started on Vampire Diaries. Caroline can be the one who changes Klaus for the better. I haven't watched the Orginals in a long time, but that's because the romantic plots in the story started to fall. I wish we could've seen some of Damon and Elena's human life together. Their normal, human path together. I feel that reunion was pretty weak. A slow motion walk with a weird look on Ian's face? Come on! I'm rewatching the series and Damon shows more emotion when he sees Elena at the Originals' ball - that should be multiplied by a million for this moment. Look at all he went through to get that moment. Also - the article that says that Damon wasn't a part of Elena's afterlife... I took that clip to mean that Elena had passed first and Damon hadn't passed yet. He's wearing a different outfit when we see him show up at stefan's door vs when Elena was walking down the street with him. In my mind, their initial meet up was with their families and then they found each other after. They spent much of their lifetime missing them.
To answer someone's question Caroline probably didn't want the cure since she has to be there for her kids and also she'd have to take it from Damon and depending where they are in their lives taking it from him would cause him to age and die since hes old as dirt like stephan. When they took it from elena she was still young so only aged a few years maybe or however long it is has been maybe thats why her makeup wasnt that great to make her look somewhat older. Anyways, as always i find holes in the story like yea they could have allowed Stephan to live. kill her and jump to where damon was right before the fire hit. and when they should vampire run but they only regular run sometimes that annoys me like when caroline was running to the house on the previous episode before it blew up but she vampire ran out of the school or wherever it was when stephan said to get out of there. What u cant vampire run in a wedding dress? Lol but i think stephan needed to die like he said for himself. This was his redemption for everyone he had killed and for being a ripper and for turning his brother into the vampire he was. I think they should have shown us more glimpses of damon and elenas life together before they found peace. Like flashes of them getting married and growing old together showing us a lot of time had passed. Definitely hope to see Caroline in the originals. He said he'd be her last love :)
It wasnt bad. I wasnt happy about stefan dying but if i needed closure from the show i got it unlike other series that just leave you hangin #onetreehill. I dont get though how elena was able to physically interact with the dead when no one else could. Plus i gave up on the originals a long time ago.... does klaus' letter mean i have to jump bac in it. Is caroline goin to be a staple in the originals now? All in all it was good. Just dont know what to watch to replace it feling #empty

They did not NEED to kill Stephan. He could have stabbed her and thrown her into the hell fire. Katherine never woke up immediately after being stabbed, so there was time. On top of that the twins could have siphoned the magic from the room Elena was trapped in! Let the damn town burn!
Secondly so what, Carloline had to watch all her friends and daughters die? She was the only vampire left and ended up alone?
Hated this ending. The reunion between Damon and Elena was weak as hell. Waited TWO SEASONS for their reunion and that's what we get. Cheat us with only 16 episodes and then end it that way?? Awful.
Hi! Love the show! The ending not so much. Let me just say a few things though. The reason we didn't get a better Damon & Elaina ending is not Nina's fault it's Nikki Reed's fault. In case you don't know that's Ian Somerhaulder's (Damon's Real Wife). She didn't even want Nina to come back for this finale. So I'm sure she put her husband into a crap position and said it's like this or else. Does anyone understand what I'm saying. I do think that Nina could have done a better acting job also. And her makeup was horrible too. As far as the direction the tool the finale in; I am so so right now. I cried a lot for some of the moments that were heartbreaking and at other moments I felt irritated and cheated. I wish if they couldn't have made it a 2 hour finale then at least made the season 22 or 23 episodes the same as every other. This would have given them the air time to show the direction everyone's life was heading. It would have been bitter sweet to see Elaina & Damon live life-Work, Children, etc. So anyway I'd say I'd give this finale a 4.5/10. I will miss TVD very deeply and when I started watching I was in a very dark place in my life and this show simply got me through it! Thanks to all the actors and everyone involved. It was an amazing 8 years that I'm so so sad to see go!

Everyone should have taken the cure and became human!!! I also think that Stefan & Caroline should of began their lives together & Damon & Elena together!!!! I also wish that some how Bonnie could have brought Enzo back so she could get her happy ending!!! I did like the peace ending that was awesome!!!! I think some of the comments on this page are rediculous. I do think they could have elaborated a little more on Elaina and Damon... did they have kids? Why did they get separated after death? I thought it was really cool how they brought everybody back even if it was just a cameo. They even brought back the old man that had altshiemers, Titi's grandfather? He played in the car wash scene where Bonnie started the fire... anyway, I thought it was really cool how they did that. All in all it was pretty good just the Damon and Elana thing could have been better. I am surely going to miss my Friday night with TVD, 8 seasons is a long time. I was slightly disappointed in the ending. It felt rushed and I was confused. I understand Stephan got peace and I was okay with that. I think it should of emphasized Damon and Elenas relationship more. I was sad they didn't have more of a special moment not even a single "I love you". The ending was confusing did they live a long life have kids etc? And what's carolines story? The boarding school was cute but what about her love life? Will she reunite with Klaus? I hope she does. The only ending that made sense was Bonnie's ending. Besides that it was pretty confusing. Wish it could of been longer and gave more answers.

One correction. The Salvatore Boarding House was not Stefan and Damon's childhood home.
Their childhood home is shown a few times in Season 1. Stefan even takes Elena to the ruins of the home.

I cant believe its all over now. I have this sick feeling in my stomach things will never be the same again. There wont be a show like that again. It did end on a good note but would have liked to have seen the brothers on the spin off The Originals. Wish no one had to die.

The finale depended alot on how much time ELANA was willing to show up for. Im sure the writers would have made it 2 hours long or even 2 episodes long if Elana would have agreed. I think the ending was amazing- however i would have liked to see more of Stelanas life together- marriage, kids (although i do think Elana had a ring on her marriage finger; would have liked to see her in a dress etc.) I do think that parts of the episodes leading up to the finale had some rushed/ unthought parts in it but overall i think the writers did an amzing job without elana in the show it wouldnt have been easy to say the least. Stefan sacrificing himself for Damon was perfect- Stefan always blamed himself for turning Damon vampire and Stefan finally got to do the right thing by his brother. Stefan and Caroline are wierd- Elana owns his heart and i still wanted Stefan to say i love you before he parted Elana! Although Stefan moving on i guess was necessary. Hopefully Caroline will be in the Originals. No show will ever be as epic or as emotional as the Vampire Diaries, what a beautiful show that will be forever missed ????
Loki - Stefan would age quickly and die without the cure because he was 150 years old. Without the cure in his blood, those 150 years quickly caught up to him. However Elena was only a vampire for a few years or so. When the cure was removed from her, she was still only 20 something years old.
I loved this show, but did not like the ending! Didn't make sense that Stefan would age quickly, once he took some of his blood in a syringe to make Damon human. Bonnie took some of Elena's blood to make Stefan human, and she didn't age fast. I didn't like the rush for everyone to get to the afterlife either. We just got Elena and Damon back together, and then (after a supposed long life) she's holding his hand and "poof" they are both dead, and with their families, not each other. Very strange ending. So now Caroline is the only vampire left - just awful.

Starting with the first season this love was about "true love"! Did I miss something but the show told us that no matter what Stefan and Elena were meant to be and that no matter what they would always end up together. The writer of the first two seasons was awesome but then the wheels came of this bus. Damon was the worst character on the show but gets the happy ending??? Again WTF!!! This is like Elijah tell Klaus he is the moral and better man. WTF!! I mean really writers. Next time stick with what the viewers like and want and not who you like!
Ugh at the Delana's fans whining. First of all, Stefan died for Damon so he could be with Elena. WTF? He died to save the brother that killed his best friend, his Uncle, stole his girlfriend and never apologized for any of it. And not only did the writers force feed that ridiculous Steroline relationship on the viewers as a consolation prize for him losing Elena to the bad brother, he had to call Damon the better man??? I am sorry, the Damon and Delena worship this show has taken since Season 4 is what really killed this show.
Disappointed at the ending. Not just the last episode but the 3 last episodes leading up to the ending. After 8 years of watching this show I expected more. I understand someone had to die but they could have done it better. Stefan dying was absurd.. no reason he had to die he could have just left Karoline there and jumped into that room with Damon. The ending felt So rushed. It did not show the Love Damon and Elena have- just didn't do it justice at all.. Stefan and Caroline should have never been together- completely forced relationship. And to get to see their wedding but not Elena and Damon's is just stupid.. idk- the storyline sucked at the end and the finale should have been two hours because it was totally rushed. Did not do the show justice at all.
I needed more. I expected glimpses of Damon and Elena getting married, swinging kids on a swing set, etc. The show is all about supernatural characters just wanting the natural for themselves, so I felt that was missed at the end. I know this is all implied, but I feel as though my 8 years spent watching the show could have been more thoroughly rewarded. I'm sorry, but I didn't care as much about seeing Caroline and Stephan getting married as I did Damon and Elena. I just wanted a tiny bit of downtime with Elena and Damon. I felt like Nina resumed her Katherine role at the same caliber, but I felt like Elena and Damon were not the same together. I felt like it was odd that there was more of a moment between Elena and Stephan than there was between even Elena and Damon. Felt like they let their personal lives interfere with their professional honestly. It needed to be a 2 hour finale for sure. I feel empty now. The Originals is not nearly as good as TVD. I give this series finale 5 bones out of 10. Forgive my pessimism.
I think this last episode made me sob more than when Elena left. I honestly think this was epic in a way but not. I loved the fact that They showed all the main characters that left and died. Including Elenas family, I really didn't like how Stefan had to die but he died as a hero saving his brothers love and for Elena. I think this was not much epic of him dying but I still love this show. This was epic and it was like reading a long novel with a sweet heartbreaking ending. I don't think I ever loved a show as much as this one!!
Very sad, but necessary ending to an awesome show
The fact that Damon was made out to be the "better man" is ridiculous. Stefan has always done nothing but be selfless and caring towards everyone. It's just sad the show started with Stefan wanting to be a human with elena but Damon, the selfish brother got everything stefan wanted. And Stefan and Elena had sooo much more chemistry in their scenes in the finale, Damon and Elena didn't even come close. I am glad Bonnie got to live though and somewhat a happy ending but Stefan deserved much better.
I hated that Stefan died. Bullshit, he should have been with Caroline. He is the reason the show started considering he saved Elena from her wreck. It should have ended with him alive.
I always love a happy ending and an ending that doesn't leave you thinking...what the hell? All bases were covered. Freakin awesome!
Watched it from beginning , ending was rushed and silly Damien should never of become human ruined story line , and Stefan was never happy after Elena , Caroline belonged with rick and girls , Bonnie always lost her guys could of been so much more
There was no reason to kill of Stephen. ABSURD is the right word. Wtf it looked like they could have just stab Katherine and throw her into the fire. Really stupid. Felt rush. So they waited all that time to be together to be killed off. I agree with comments below. Felt rushed! Elena felt fake. Her acting like Katherine was way better. I am glad to hear the slight hope to see Caroline in the original i guess..... but Bullshit
The way it ended with the letter from klaus to Caroline has me wondering if this means she will be featuring in the originals and that would be really cool! Their relationship would be a lot like Elena and Damon's, the good trying to change the bad! I wish Stefan didn't die but I'd really like to see a character travel from the vampire diaries to the originals. Why was Jeremy not reunited with Elena? I seen him at the new Salvatore school but would have been more fitting to see him with his sister, and that leads me to the fast paced conclusion that took a lot of putting together before I figured it out leading me to finding this page with a better explanation. I love the show too much to ever hate any episode but I wish they would have focused on the goodbye so viewers weren't as lost. I would have liked to see a glimpse of Elena and Damon's long love life to be completely satisfied but oh well I will love this show and I will miss it.

Horrible ending. Rushed and confusing. I dont know what im going to do with out damon in my life. Wish they didnt kill off everyone and could elana have seemed more fake tonight..
I read the interview and thought the "necessity" of killing Stephen was completely ABSURD. Way to be cliche! It was a cheap tear-jerker. And the crumb of happiness with Elaina and Damon desolved into total CONFUSION! Were they dead? What happened!? Why separated? WTF!?!!! Fine to show old characters, but what a hurried, confusing, sappy mess. Kinda hated it ????
I was happy to see Katherine but we all love her so much I would've loved to see her and Nadia together ...but oh well and I cried so much with Stefan's death he deserved better. I was happy to see Elena back to life
I'm still pretty upset with Katherine's dead (she so richly deserved it) but I mean "let's kill her in season 5 and send her to hell. Now let's bring her for the finale and destroy her... Really

I must say I was disappointed with how the series ended. I didn't like the fact that they killed Stefan. I thought that there will be a happy ever after for all of them. Stefan and Caroline will be happily married, Elena will wake up somehow (which she did) and be with Damon, and everybody will be able to live a normal life after they eliminated all the evils surrounded them. First part was going great until the end which confuses the heck outa me! All of a sudden Elena and Damon reuniting with their loved ones....because they're dead?!?They could've ended the series another way. Seriously! However, as disappointing as the ending was, I shed tears and I will definitely miss TVD for sure! TVD is the only show I look forward to watching every week, and now...I have nothing to look forward to watching anymore :(. Thank you TVD. I will miss you!
Devastated by the ending. Though I did like the cameos of lost characters. This episode was
done too fast. Maybe if it had been more detailed and longer I could have been ok with Stefan dying. Why did Stefan die? Made no sense. He gave his blood to Damon but how does that remove the cure from Stefan such that he would age and die very fast? Big hole in the story.
I didn't like it, it was really forced, they should have had like a two hour season finale or something. That was all just mishmash and didn't really make a lot of sense, they bring everybody back together, then to just immediately fast forward their lives to them supposedly dying somehow. Because all of a sudden Elena sees her dead family and Damon is with Stefan again. Which like 10 seconds earlier she was just leaving The mystic woods in a nurses outfit holding hands with Damon walking down the street saying Damon doesn't think he'll see his brother again. It was terrible. Also the actress that plays Katherine and Elena was not bringing her A game. She was f believable as Katherine. The attitude Katherine usually portrays is nothing like Elena and this episode barely showed their differences. Basically just Elena with curly hair. Really disappointed.
Wouldn't it have made sense to kill Bonnie instead? Then she could've been reunited with Enzo and all of the couples would've been happy after all the struggles they went through together I think the fans deserve to see that as well. The show started with Stefan's diary it should've closed with him writing in it

I have loved TVD for 8 years. Every Thurs or Fri I waited anxiously to see what crazy antics would happen to these characters and to stare adoringly at Ian Somerhalder, (god I will miss his sexy ass!) I had mixed feelings coming into tonight bc I felt like This past season was so good and it want ready to wrapped up yet. There were times I felt like I was watching a Lifetime movie in that the whole season was really good, and then BAM it just wraps everything up in the last 5 minutes! Very lifetime movie Esque: anticlimactic! I felt like they tried to wrap 8 seasons worth of epic stories, love and character development into one quick, very commercial interrupted one hour finale and This show deserved better than that. For god sakes, at least a 2 hour finale please!! It was too rushed and makes me sad that it ended that way. Although I loved all the cameos, and think there were some very genuine moments that held true to The nature of TVD, it was not a win for me. I will say I Loved the shout out to klaus though. Hands down best "villain" the show ever had! Bottom Line, I will miss TVD no matter how crappy it ended. It will always be one of my favorite shows.
Ps. What is it with Ian Somerhalder being on shows where in the last episode everyone dies?!? I deidicated 6 years of my life to LOST just to find out they were all dead and now 8 years to TVD and they're all dead too!!!! What's up with that?!!??
That hour a day will be missed truly. The show and cast is a part of me now forever. The show will go down as my top 3 shows if all times. Thank you for the last 8 seasons, my time well spent.
I enjoyed the episode. I just the ending when it showed Damon and Elena's deaths but I agree Caroline's story could definitely continue on the originals. But overall I think they tied everything nicely. Sad the Stefan had to die t ok save Damon as and Mystic Falls.
