I have lived here all by life and my dad was a conductor for Southern Pacific Railroad all his life. I spent many hours on that corner picking him up from work and dropping him off. He went from San Francisco to LA. I think that would be an excellent name for the spot. After all, it is still basically a train yard!

While I voted for "The Junction," I'll offer a hybrid compromise. Why not try "Diridon Junction"?

The area is a junction. It is where there is a real rail and bus junction, or hub, but also a confluence of the western edge of downtown, mid-town, and The Alameda. Diridon Junction would honor the public service and transportation contributions of Rod Diridon, Sr., and the nexus between the above mentioned areas.

"Crossroads" is short and sweet, and the word has enough meanings to be able to play into many different contexts.

"The Rail Yard" is SOOOO last generation. And "The Junction" sounds like a cheap bar.

    Oh well, my two cents.

We already have a "Rails" campus in MTV. The Rail Yard is not interesting at all, and sadly, none of the other two.

In encompassing the past and the future
    "BITYARD"
would fit for a name. It kinda rolls off of the tongue.

You have inaccurately stated that there is no Crossroads in this area. The intersection of Sunnyvale Saratoga Rd (now DeAnza Blvd.) and Stevens Creek in Cupertino was first designated the Crossroads some 70+ years ago. If this name were to be attached to a major internet player it should be Apple who has there headquarters just up the street

As a lifetime resident of the Santa Clara Valley , I think "Rail Yard" would be the most appropriate name for the area.
Honor our history and embrace our future.

I think Google's new site should be named Goggle.

FYI, Google already has a small campus in Sunnyvale named "Rails".
