As an adult who was a kid that put a creep in jail I am extremely opposed against creep catchers and how they do things. Also, I work with people with disabilities, I have seen how this group of people have harassed a family I worked for just because they were related to someone that was supposedly a "creep." The system sucks, but the police do what they can, I'd rather leave it up to the police!

The risk of being potentially being caught by anyone has never stopped a child predator from looking for a child. They may not do it on your street again or your child's, but they'll do it somewhere. At best, these groups just move the problem to another street and another victim.
Amateur vigilante groups do not have the resources to surveill a suspect while they gather evidence toward conviction. They certainly don't have the expertise and training to gather evidence in a manner that ensures a conviction.
The principal mentioned by Kayla? CC could have taken their information to the police immediately, who could have enacted a warrant on his home and work to gather additional evidence and look for other victims. Instead, CC blasted him on Facebook. They received a lot of attention from the media and a lot of high fives from their fans.
When the principal went to court, charges were stayed and he was given a 9-month peace bond BECAUSE of the "methods" used by CC. BECAUSE OF THEM. CC's actions directly led to the a potential child predator being allowed to go back to his life in a short period of time. No time served, no court-ordered therapy, no adding him to the sexual offenders registry.

I see cc as a prevention to child molestation. One u can see who is in ur area trying to get ur children to come out when u ain't there... 2 creeps are starting to think twice before going to meet children as they think it could be cc. Plus public shaming... cc busted the principal of my children's school... he was using school computers to pick up said children also... the police did arrest him. Not sure what has happened with him now as police don't disclose that info... but I know a few girls at the school came forward after they saw the cc video. And I know a few that left the school because of him but didn't say anything until after the video.. there is a lot shame in being sexually abused especially for young kids. So also a good thing that these girls and boys see these videos reconize said person feel a Lil less at fault and have the courage to speak out.

As a mom of 4 young kids and a world full of Internet and smart phones I agree 100% with cc. I can say as child my self I was sexually assisted on more then one occasion and raped at age 8.. it ruined my childhood and still effects me to this day. Yet there was no Internet then it's a lot easier for child preditors to get to kids with the Internet. . Cyber or not they still child predidtors still trying to ruin kids lives. So the people that assulted me as a child go away Scott free. And probably still touch kids and ruin their lives ... one that raped me got 100 dollar fine and wasn't aloud near girls under a cretin age... did he follow said conditions... no he didn't. . He sat in front of my house everyday. When my mom called the police they said it was a public area and there was nothing they could do. So we moved... changed schools lost all my friends. After this someone else had been trying to groom me.. I had noticed it was weird since I had been in that situation prior and told my councilor that I was seeing for the first incident. She told my mom my mom went to the police. And about 50 plus other woman and kids came forward to testify against him and his peoi ways.. some of these woman were 30 to 50 years old . He had molested them when they were little girls... it took me saying something... 50 plus girls... he got 5 years in jail and was let out after 2... for 50 plus crimes.so yes I think cc is essential especially now with so many ways they can lure children ... sure people say let the cops do it. .. but what can they do.? Nothing that's what... they can arrest them and then they out to do it again.. they won't get jail time and if they do it will not prevent them from doing it again. .. that has been proven by statistics and many other things.. but if cc puts their face on the Internet . Weather they are charged or not at least parents and kids can see who these people are and what their actual intensions are. And have a better ability to protect their children or them selves..

While they do not do the "Social Media Shaming" as a means of 'awareness' and they refer to themselves as 'advocates' there is still a LOT of behind the scenes shenanigans, drama and unprofessional conduct. The leader of the organization brags about a training program, but those who start with the outfit receive very little 'training' and the training is certainly not conducted by anyone with a background in law enforcement or investigation. They brag about being a registered society, but they do not operate in a way that a non-profit society should. They have no accountant, no lawyer, no oversight from a board of governors to ensure that the Society operates properly......yet they use that Society status to present themselves as a "legitimate" entity and solicit support and donations.
Within the organization, itself, there is bullying and intimidation of both volunteers and targets and the creation of an online echo chamber in their Social Media environments that does not tolerate opinions opposite their own. In many ways, they are very much the same as the organizations they claim to be different from.
In truth, there is NO creep catcher or creep catcher like organization out there that is operated in a manner that would either make them effective at building a case against an actual predator or act as any kind of deterrent to an actual predator. They offer no Justice and produce no valid results.

First of all, lola Jane is one of the creep catchers posting on here. Second of all, like everyone else said, it's one thing to catch pedophiles, it's another to harass innocent people. That's why we have a court system in place, innocent until proven guilty. Maybe if the police stepped up on their game, focus more on catching predators, than maybe local citizens wouldn't feel the need to take the safety of their children into their own hands.

CLARIFICATION...if anyone decides to search Facebook for further information on the group I mentioned, Creep HUNTERS Canada, please be aware that "Edmonton Creep Hunters" is **NOT** a page that is associated with this official movement as, rumour has it, it was recently "hacked" by - you guessed it - a member of either Creep Catchers (or one of the less prominent predator hunting groups on Facebook) & is now being used to - guess again - harass, bully, post false allegations, make unsubstantiated accusations, etc against innocent victims...yes, folks, this is EXACTLY what Creep Catchers do, which is why we are now seeing the end of this group...and I, for one, am relieved. I will put my faith into law enforcement (and perhaps look to Creep Hunters Canada as an assistance to them, if they continue to do the work they are doing).

The Creep Catchers are currently imploding on Facebook as a result of their unsubstantiated allegations, false accusations, threats of violence, harassment of innocent individuals, mob mentality, gang behavior AND complete lack of results...it will only be a matter of time before they cease to exist on all social media platforms and, without social media, they will lack the "exposure" they seek.
What people don't realize is that this so-called "exposure" only reaches an estimated 17% of the general population, leaving the vast majority of citizens (and, obviously, children) without what Creep Catchers view as their "protection"...which, unfortunately, really is no protection at all.

It's a slippery slope to start supporting vigilantism for any crime.
Vigilante 'justice' is NOT justice. These Smartphone cowboys are not interested in justice. They are interested in the attention they can get and the accolades they receive from an equally uneducated audience. Social Media Shaming does nothing to stop an actual predator and that has been proven time and agin. It does, however, incite an online mob that creates havoc amongst the "creeps" family, friends and employers. They (Creep Catchers) do not have the skill sets, training, or critical thinking that is required to ensure that actual justice is in hand.

The leader of the organization brags about a training program, but those who start with the outfit receive very little 'training' and the training is certainly not conducted by anyone with a background in law enforcement or investigation. They brag about being a registered society, but they do not operate in a way that a non-profit society should. They have no accountant, no lawyer, no oversight from a board of governors to ensure that the Society operates properly......yet they use that Society status to present themselves as a "legitimate" entity and solicit support and donations.
Within the organization, itself, there is bullying and intimidation of both volunteers and targets and the creation of an online echo chamber in their Social Media environments that does not tolerate opinions opposite their own. In many ways, they are very much the same as the organizations they claim to be different from.
In truth, there is NO creep catcher or creep catcher like organization out there that is operated in a manner that would either make them effective at building a case against an actual predator or act as any kind of deterrent to an actual predator. They offer no Justice and produce no valid results.
First of all, lola Jane is one of the creep catchers posting on here. Second of all, like everyone else said, it's one thing to catch pedophiles, it's another to harass innocent people. That's why we have a court system in place, innocent until proven guilty. Maybe if the police stepped up on their game, focus more on catching predators, than maybe local citizens wouldn't feel the need to take the safety of their children into their own hands.
We see what these two individuals want us too see. Have they been checked too see if there are any peace bonds or investigations into food tampering, that children would be eating.
Or threatening people to make fake accounts in said name...which could ruin a persons life.
These are far from good simiritans out to help the community. They have caused countless people money from damage done to vehicles and homes to emotional suffering from constant badgering.

The creep catching movement has been active in Canada for more than three years. In that time, hundreds of people have been accused -- some of them entirely innocent, others who are probably 100% guilty.
Of those hundreds, only a handful have been charged.
Of that handful, we have seen one, maybe two, convictions.
In more than THREE years.
The movement is ineffective. It does not do what people hoped it might.
Meantime, here is a sample of the benefits every TRUE predator gets just for playing the creep catching game...
- A valid legal defense via the BAIT and SWITCH tactic that renders it much more difficult for the prosecution to secure a conviction. "She said she was 18, then she said she was 15. I thought it was her fantasy and I merely went along with it."
- A free online training course on how to escape detection thanks to hundreds of chat logs posted online. By studying these, a true predator can learn to recognize the characteristics of an online sting and thus, better avoid detection from parents or police. They are providing these insights to thousands of people at a time.
- Free kiddie porn. Again, in the form of any chat logs that depict sexual activity between an adult and a minor. Most true predators have to pay for that kind of smut; creep catchers not only gives it away for free, they keep cranking it out like a silver-plated subscription service.

CLARIFICATION...if anyone decides to search Facebook for further information on the group I mentioned, Creep HUNTERS Canada, please be aware that "Edmonton Creep Hunters" is **NOT** a page that is associated with this official movement as, rumour has it, it was recently "hacked" by - you guessed it - a member of either Creep Catchers (or one of the less prominent predator hunting groups on Facebook) & is now being used to - guess again - harass, bully, post false allegations, make unsubstantiated accusations, etc against innocent victims...yes, folks, this is EXACTLY what Creep Catchers do, which is why we are now seeing the end of this group...and I, for one, am relieved. I will put my faith into law enforcement (and perhaps look to Creep Hunters Canada as an assistance to them, if they continue to do the work they are doing).
The Creep Catchers are currently imploding on Facebook as a result of their unsubstantiated allegations, false accusations, threats of violence, harassment of innocent individuals, mob mentality, gang behavior AND complete lack of results...it will only be a matter of time before they cease to exist on all social media platforms and, without social media, they will lack the "exposure" they seek.
What people don't realize is that this so-called "exposure" only reaches an estimated 17% of the general population, leaving the vast majority of citizens (and, obviously, children) without what Creep Catchers view as their "protection"...which, unfortunately, really is no protection at all.
Creep Catchers is a failed experiment. It may have begun with good intentions, but it quickly disintegrated into a war of egos, a Facebook popularity contest, a front for making under-the-counter incomes from merchandise sales & donations, a haven for those that live on the fringes of society and REALLY have no business protecting ANYTHING, much less our most precious possessions.
Keep your eyes on Creep HUNTERS, a predator hunting group that has learned from the mistakes made by Creep Catchers, and has grown as a result - no public shaming that accomplishes nothing except sick entertainment for 17% of Facebook members ONLY, working with law enforcement, certified non-profit status...they are getting CONVICTIONS, and they are gaining the respect both of citizens & law enforcement. THIS is what we should be applauding within this movement.

Catch legitimate predators, YES, but this is not justice. I think it's very telling that these people wear masks and use fake names. If it isn't Halloween and you're out wearing a mask, you are obviously up to something shady. The bottom line is these Creep Catcher creeps are literally ruining lives over underage girls who don't even exist. This is justice?
What these people do is nothing short of entrapment. The "offense" would never exist if they hadn't created it themselves! Ironically, the men they are setting up/entrapping are the only victims. They should listen to the police and find something more constructive to do with their time.
Creep Catchers have yet to provide evidence to result in a single conviction. They don't have the resources to do better work than police officers or sexual crime units. In fact, they interfere with active investigations.
It's a slippery slope to start supporting vigilantism for any crime.
Vigilante 'justice' is NOT justice. These Smartphone cowboys are not interested in justice. They are interested in the attention they can get and the accolades they receive from an equally uneducated audience. Social Media Shaming does nothing to stop an actual predator and that has been proven time and agin. It does, however, incite an online mob that creates havoc amongst the "creeps" family, friends and employers. They (Creep Catchers) do not have the skill sets, training, or critical thinking that is required to ensure that actual justice is in hand.
The reason the police "cannot do anything" is because of the methods by which the 'evidence' is obtained. The bait-and-switch entrapment method, which is illegal for the police to do....and has already resulted in a Creep Catchers suspect escaping justice (in BC).
