I don't see a problem with him playing off either left or right of Carroll because as we saw at Southampton when he played off Antonio mostly to the right he scored twice.
Let's leave it to the manager because he will either succeed or fail, one we will be happy with the other is he will be looking for a job.

If it isn't possible to play him in his normal position in the same team as Carroll then why on earth did we buy him?
Bearing in mind how few matches he plays perhaps Carroll should be the one to move into a different position and let Chicarito play in his normal role where he has proved he scores lots of goals.
By playing him out of position he faces the same fate as Snodgrass who had no chance to impress in the unnatural position that Bilic played him.
One does have to wonder why Bilic buys these p-layers and then expects them to perform in positions they are not comfortable with. Would guess that he would have played Shearer at right back!
