Which side of the budget debate can you support?
Sheriff Johnson has the correct side. An increase from $7.3 million to $8.1 million is not an unmanageable request for the Sheriff’s Office considering the demands required for the county when considered against the $26 million total budget.
The County has the correct side. The Sheriff’s Office has maintained services on the $7.3 million budget before and should not need such an increase to maintain what it already accomplishes.
Increases in costs these days makes an increase request understandable. I see other counties trying to acquiesce these requests with compromising numbers. Maybe an increase to $7.6 million…
