Should Florida require high school students to complete a financial literacy class?

The real question is why isn't this part of every curriculum in the country? Not should it.

I know I would have benefitted from it. Kill sports, band, pottery and photography (I was in HS in the 80s) and you'd have money left over.

My sons took such a class when they were in High School in New York and it was the best program they ever took. I think all high school age young adults should have the opportunity to learn about such things.

Yes as there is a world of complicated finance decisions that they will be confronted with in their adult lives. Investments, retirement options, saving to meet goals, etc. at present a majority of high school students are naive to finances including balancing a checkbook, etc.

absolutely! it is so important that high school students are aware of the pit falls of handling their own finances. Their money, checkbooks, and credit cards that are so freely handed out at that age, can be a disaster for those who don't understand the consequences of mishandling. this should be a requirement for graduation!

I believe it is critical that all people especially young people understand how to manage their finances. Finances include debt, credit cards, loans, savings, retirement, interest rates, etc.
