I can't speak for all of Mexico but I live close to Guadalajara (Chapala/Ajijic) and my experience with the Doctors and medical services here have been great. I have no complaints. I have my own doctors and I belong to the Mexican Medical IMSS. My Cardiologist and Dermatologist are fabulous. You would be hard pressed to find better. Also very pleased with my dental care in Chapala.
    I've lived 10+ years here.

Think health care in P.V. & La Penita outstanding.......
    Kudos to drs.
Once with travel insurance & once without.
Drs. are trained to respect patients & do everything in their power to correct any medical problem.
Kudos to Dr. C. Castro. You are the BEST!????????????

Last year I went to a gastro doctor in Mazatlán for a prescription for a medication that is very expensive in the states. I was told that I did not have that diagnoses, and did not need the prescription and suggested that I stop the medication. To shorten this story, Dr. Javier was correct. In my opinion, a good Mexican doctor is better that the U.S. physicians that I have seen in the states.

I have a friend who has a medical condition that has not been diagnosed correctly, and I suggested that she consider seeking treatment at hospital Sharp as they will take time to diagnose her properly and are just as good as or better than the best in the u.s.

Ive had extensive surgery and ongoing medical treatment here through IMSS in Baja and have no complaints. Ive been treated better than I ever was in the states, no problems at all.

A lot depends on where you seek medical attention and how much you are willing to pay. In my little town-Tequisquiapan Qro there are a pack of charlatans posing as specialists. The best doctor I have found is the free doctor at Ahorro pharmacy

I have lived in Mexaco for 20 years and have required medical attencion on a number of occacvions. I was pleased with both the competence and timeliness of the service required. The doctors were the finest I have had the opportunity to recieve service from, and the service and follow-up was seconed to none

Your question was not well framed. I wold like to have had the choice to declare the health care to be very high - for those that can afford private care. I would have also declared it to be very low for those - primarily poorer Mexicans - who can not afford private health care. Indeed, for the latter citizens, the health care system is abysmal!.

My experience here in Puerto Vallarta and in Guadalajara with private care has been excellent. Problems with Surgery in USA resolved here.
