While single stream offers promises of increased collection volume with decreased collection costs, at the end of the day, it delivers higher contamination with increased processing costs, decreased processing efficiencies and less quantity/quality of material being delivered to the end users. In my opinion the vast majority of the issues the recycling industry faces today is rooted in the transition to single stream collection..
