Should Mexico pay for Donald Trump's border wall?

Former President of Mexico, Vincente Fox had a good solution Mexico would pay for The Wall if it was built North of the California, Arizona, Texas and New Mexico borders! Viva Mexico!

Absolutely not! As an American, I abhor his racist, sexism, idiotic policies. Mexico is a beautiful country with lovely people. The U.S. should be so lucky. It has become a cruel and ignorant example of potential dictatorship. Impeachment now!

Be nice to have a wall all around the USA, with a nice open corridor from Canada to Mexico. Keep the Americans and their bad attitudes from polluting the rest of the world.

I think Mexico and most other countries would gladly pay for more than just one wall - one wall each
around Trump Tower, each of his numerous golf courses, the White House as long as Mr. Pussygrabber is in it...what a sad and dangerous jerk that man is!

Trump is an ass and a bully. No wall.

Mexico should demand that Trump build a wall and pay for it to stop the influx of guns coming in to Mexico from the US. Why does everyone blame Mexico for the drugs? If there wasn't such a demand, there wouldn't be such a problem, control the consumption of the drugs in the US and stop smuggling your guns in to Mexico. Not picking sides here, but let's look at the complete picture here and where this problem stems from.

I think Mexico should just ignore Donald Trump for the rest of his term. No talks, no negotiations, no responding to his threats or slander. If there's one thing that egomaniac hates it's being ignored. It's HIS wall on HIS side of the border. It just shows how ignorant he is. Just hang in there Mexico. He's on his way out and Pence is another idiot. So just wait until the Dems, some sense and brains, are in office then perhaps reasonable minds will be able to see Mexico for the rich culture it is, that there is more to Mexico than drug lords. Who is the U.S. to talk anyway...school shootings, rock concert shootings, theater, churches, restaurant, business offices shootings....

The wall is already in place for the most part. Mexico has closed borders in the south. So what’s the big deal? Hypocrisy at its finest. Yes Mexico will pay. He’s going to put a tariff on any monies sent via Western Union, Moneygram, etc... into Mexico. In 2016 that amount was nearly 70 BILLION Dollars. If anyone thinks that he can’t make Mexico pay, albeit through indirect means, you’re kidding yourself! Whether you agree with and open border on the US side and a closed border in the south with Nicaragua or not, don’t be a hypocrite. Educate yourselves as the the atrocities committed by Mexico against their southern border neighbors.

The wall will ultimately bankrupt America because an idiot wants it.
Two more years possibly with the idiot.

  • ivan - 6 years ago

Mexico is a city of walls. What's one more? Sounds like hypocrisy when they have one in the south.

As a US citizen who has traveled extensively in Mexico for over 40 years, including attending school, I find this to be one of the most, of many, offensive ideas Trump has used to rally his racist supporters. Mexico would be insane to agree to this contemptible demand

  • Dianne Cantor - 6 years ago

Trump frequently speaks before he thinks and changes his position on matters on a daily basis at least. He dreamed up this stupid wall and then sold it to his supporters while at the same time alienating Mexico and damaging the warm relationship that has existed between the two countries. He's a disaster and if he wants a wall, he's a billionaire, let him pay for it. Or if his supporters want a wall, let them pay. To think Mexico should pay for his stupid wall is beyond absurd.

  • Larry Brown - 6 years ago

NEVER! As an American who will never claim Trump as my president, there should never be a wall built between the US and Mexico. It is a stupid idea and a Hugh waste of money. Please Mexico do not let this horrible president bully Mexico into building the wall!!!

  • Joseph Garcia - 6 years ago

17th century technology does not work in today's world. Whether the wall goes up or not it will be built on U.S. soil. It is absurd to think Mexico can be forced to pay for it. Indirect approaches such as tariffs will only force Mexico to respond in kind. Tell me who wins here?
The immigration issues the U.S. faces are multi-layered and very complex with many varying approaches all which will probably be untenable as people looking for work will travel to the ends of the earth to find it. Just ask the thousands that have made it across the Mediterranean Sea to hope to make it to Europe. No one wants to leave their homeland. This is another example of the constant struggle of rich vs. poor.
The U.S. might have considered the consequences when cheap Mexican farm labor began arriving in the mid 1800's. Today, a wall will also not stop the Central Americans who are also looking for the same thing!

I believe the 'wall' is petty revenge for Carlos Slim firing Trump in 2015. No, there should NOT be a wall! Mexico, United States and Canada are ALL part of NORTH AMERICA.

One of the most important features a country can have is its heritage and its sovereignty. Without either, a country and its native population become ruled by someone else who most likely does not understand the importance of the countries heritage. The EU is an example of this. Currently Brussels makes rules for 28 countries (with 5 more in the application stage) and over an estimated 510 million people. One of the reasons that led England leave was because the Brussels government was dictating what kind, style and size of toaster Great Britons could buy. The more you know, the more you wonder if this is how you want to be led - - - by the nose.

Trump says that the Wall is to keep people out, but actually it's to keep Americans from escaping what will soon become the great migration southward from the U.S.

  • Jerome R Petruk - 6 years ago

I'm a supporter of Trump on most of his positions. This is not one of them. Any normal entity (nation, individual, etc.) builds a wall to keep undesirables out. Protection of life and property is a perfectly acceptable reason for this. Abnormal Totalitarian) entities occasionally build walls to keep people in (ie: captive). Think Berlin wall, Iron Curtain. Mexico has problems but it is not a totalitarian government. It has no right - let alone interest - in holding its citizens captive. Neither Mexican OR U.S. citizens would or should put up with such an act from their own government. I wouldn't expect my neighbors to pay for a fence to protect me and my property. Trump needs to understand that if the U.S. wants a protective FENCE (I hate the term "wall"), we'll have to pay for it ourselves.

  • Michael F - 6 years ago

No, Mexico never should pay for "The Wall". What the US needs to do is look at the real source of the problem - the people NORTH of the border (NOTB) whom will knowingly hire an undocumented worker to save themselves a few bucks. In other words, unless you get rid of the demand, the suppliers will always have a customer and will find a way to get people NOTB.

  • Keith Barger - 6 years ago

The President of the United States has no jurisdiction over the policies and budgets of Mexico. Any Mexican government that takes such orders from a foreign power is treasonous to the Mexican people. The wall cannot do what it was proposed to do and its construction would interrupt migrations of other species. The proposal also ignores the reality that the net flow of Mexicans is that of returning home. This wall is Trump's delusional fantasy. This proposal has no credible support; those supporting it do so because of their xenophobic hate. Trump will be gone in three more years, but that wall would remain a blight until its costly removal.

Trump is a tonto. He is a bully and if you stare him down he will fade.

  • Sheila McIntyre - 6 years ago

Donald Trump’s brother was an only child! Donald Trump will never be the humanitarian of the year, and will end up in Hitler’s cabin that is not anywhere near the sky. How a man in his position can blatantly mess up a country, and grin while he is doing it, is beyond me. Any American who would vote for the wall is sadly uneducated. What if the Native Americans threw all of the pilgrims out? “ Get on your boat and don’t come back!” I guess I wouldn’t be here, loving your country, enjoying your families, at peace with the world. PLEASE, join together, fight this demon! Never allow a wall!

  • Mary - 6 years ago

Absolutely not!! It was his idea.

Was thinking maybe Canada should demand a wall

and make America pay. . . Kidding

  • Evan Ravitz - 6 years ago

The only wall we need is around Twisted Twitler himself.

  • Jackie Delin - 6 years ago

Absolutely not. Reiduculous campaign promise. Trump has no authority here.

  • Debbe Goodman - 6 years ago

We live in Mexico. Mexico DOES need a wall.....BUT along its southern border preventing all the illegals from Africa, South & Central America from coming into Mexico and up to the U.S. Borders. THAT makes scnse, but it is too bad the Mexican government has not addressed it or mentioned it and is apparently ignoring this serious issue.

  • debbie regala - 6 years ago

It is an insult to Mexico to expect them to pay for such a wall when it is a ridiculous promise Trump made during his election campaign.
He should acknowledge that and stop the insisting. It was a foolish promise by him and he should understand that. Mexico should NOT let him bully them.
