Wow, these poll creators are absolutely malicious! If I had to create a list of my ten favorite things, I'm pretty sure both Joe Pesci and Tyrannosaurus Rex would show up. Goodfellas is absolutely fantastic, and would make the list of my top 25 films of all time, but Jurassic Park was the film that kindled my love for the magic of cinema, and for that reason alone, I have to vote for it.

Everyone is talking about quality over nostalgia. And sure, selfproclaimed “true” cinefiles are always going to pick Scorsese over Speilberg in a head to head. But Goodfellas is a nostalgia pick too. We get to live vicariously through Ray Liotta’s storyline, we get to become gangster’s without suffering the consequences, just like we get to feel the wonder of seeing dinosaurs without suffering the fate of the goat. So now that we see they are both nostalgia picks, I’m going with JP. Its sense of wonderment is vastly preferable to Goodfellas guilty pleasure vibes. Plus, there are so so so so so so so many other good gangster films.

I just rewatched GoodFellas, and I knew it was good, but... wow. And I also can't believe I forgot how entertaining it is. This isn't just a contest between quality and nostalgia, or between greatness and entertainment; I'd argue that it's actually a contest between two phenomenally entertaining films, one of which just happens to be a masterpiece. So long, Jurassic Park.

This is tough, but Jurassic Park gets my vote in a heart vs head contest. This film was a big part of my childhood and it still holds up.

To all the 30 somethings out there i have a bad feeling about this but I feel Jurassic is about to go extinct.

I don't particularly like Goodfellas but it's obviously better than Jurassic Park which I watch any time it's on, but honestly the plot is ridiculous and a lot of it is pretty stupid.

I recently visited NYC & walked across Manhattan where the famous kitchen tracking shot was filmed. It’s now just another restaurant & looks very boring. Equally boring anecdote aside, Goodfella’s all the way.

I voted "Goodfellas" and it's not even close for me.

But I am REALLY curious to see how the younger side of Filmspotting Nation votes in this one. Could be an early upset.

I really don't get the love everybody has for "Goodfellas". I think that of Scorsese's mob-movies "Casino" is actually the best. I know it often gets snuffed, because it contains many elements that he had done similar in "Gaadfellas". But to me, "Casino" improved on all these things. "Goodfellas" has a few remarkable scenes and performances, but apart from that, it is far inferior to "Casino". Since "Casino" is, for whatever reason, not in the line-up, I don't have to fear losing it. So I can let go of "Goodfellas" even more easily. Also, as a modern Action-Adventure Special effects extravaganza "Jurassic Park" is still one of the landmark films of that genre and deserves some recognitiion for this.

Hey, T-Rex... go home and get ya shine box...

    Goodfellas all the way.

  • Neil Mitchell - 2 weeks ago

Love both, but I'm going against the flow with the one that gives me the rush of pure entertainment and dinosaurs. Goodfellas isn't close to my favourite Scorsese, great as it is.

I'll be glad to see Jurassic Park go extinct in this round.

  • Kevin Kiley - 2 weeks ago

I will take the movie with the lower body count and surprisingly it is not Spielberg.

Goodfellas by a bent nose. I always wanted to be a gangster.

  • Nathan Willard - 2 weeks ago

This is the only one I really had to take a bit of think about. But in the end I'll take quality over nostalgia.

Picture a red-faced Richard Attenborough with a telephone cord wrapped around his neck getting choked by Jimmy the Gent. That's basically what's about to happen to Jurassic Park in this round.

But hey........."everyone takes a beatin' sometimes"- Henry Hill.
