A Close line in any sport is a dirty hit.

    JF
    Great language.
Interesting how most people agree with me so.... whose the idiot???

  • Dean Hypes - 6 years ago

Just plain dirty and he can't help himself. Go for 10 games and see if it makes a difference in his play. I doubt it.

  • Jay - 6 years ago

Upper body injury today. Lol. Did he forget to turn the door knob and break his nose??

  • Bob - 6 years ago

Marchand should be a Boston cabbie

  • Bob - 6 years ago

Stevens - HOF - true talent and leadership recognized

  • Bob - 6 years ago

It's a shame Stevens isn't still playing - Brad, meet Scott, Brad meet ice, Brad meet unconsciousness/possible early retirement.

  • Jf - 6 years ago

Okay Lauren, you idiot. We lost Nathan Horton and Marc savard to vicious illegal hits. Why don't you just shut the fuck up. Let's not pretend the Bruins are the only team with a player who does controversial things

  • Yup - 6 years ago

Only one way to deal with rats. Fines and suspensions don't work. If you don't think BM is a 1st rate gutter rat, you don't know the game at all.

  • Charles Mulcahy - 6 years ago

I am do tired of this stuff. He tried to avoid the guy h it a penalty. All done.. But being who he is and Boston kicking ass he will get 5 to 10 games.

  • DN - 6 years ago

How is that an unavoidable hit?
He deserves no benefit of the doubt
    15 games

  • Charles H - 6 years ago

These kind of hits happen often but dont always procure the attention that BM gets. Im sure he will be fined and suspended. Why this issue has not been settled on the ice is because no one seems to be brave enough to risk penalty for knocking his a$$ into next season. It will happen, its just a matter of time then the crying will commence in Boston

  • John - 6 years ago

Unavoidable with less than a 8th of a second to even think before contact. Sure some of his past actions were not good but there is a huge incosistanct calls with many other players. Let's take out Boston's players and make phony calls. Toronto will get in there some how. Losers... some things are unavoidable tbis was one. The call on hi. For embilishment was a joke. The guy gets tripped behind the net and you gonna tell him how to fall to avoid injury. You wanna see intent to injury look at the hit on Charlie Mac. and others. Not this. No intent here. No time to think or even see it coming

  • Ryan - 6 years ago

He looks at him for a full second after his head spun around. He decides to leave his feet, clothesline him and unfortunately the guy falls awkwardly on his knee. Give him 15 games. And when he comes back and he does it to somebody else, sit him down for the playoffs plus the first 3 months of next season. He's never going to learn otherwise.

  • Geralyn M McKenzie - 6 years ago

Why do this hits usually happen when BM is on the ice. Coincidence?

  • Paul moholland - 6 years ago

I'm a die-hard Boston sports fan but marchand does it again trying to avoid my arse hate to lose his goal scoring with McAvoy and bergeron out this is going to kill the b,s but he needs to miss at least 10 games if not more he,s to much of Talent to keep doing this crap not saying don't be tough but don't be a good use your scoring talents not your cheapshots

  • Nick - 6 years ago

    Amen Len

  • Len - 6 years ago

Why was there no option of nothing belng done? The league is full of crybabies. 2 guys crashed into each other, and one guy twisted his leg. If you don't like seeing it, then go watch basketball or baseball. Don't ruin my sport.

  • David - 6 years ago

When you try to avoid someone, you make yourself "small.". You don't jump up in the air and clothesline someone, making yourself "very large". Dirty hit. No other explanation fits.

  • Lauren - 6 years ago

As a Devils fan he should have been suspended for as long as Johansson as been out. A suspension of 5 games is nothing. For you Bruins fans what would you say if one of your star players was taken out by a dirty hit by someone whose known for it. Shame on you fans for supporting that type of behavior.

  • Smith - 6 years ago

All of you sucking down the brad Marchand is dirty isn't looking at this from a level headed perspective...duclair had no intention of going for the puck and Marchand had no other path to take the exact definition of incidental contact

  • Nick - 6 years ago

You guys are all butt hurt because he consistently makes your teams look like garbage. He was looking way up ice. If Marchand wanted to cheap shot Duclair he would have done so.

  • Don - 6 years ago

What a disgusting throwback to the days of goon hockey...this guy should be thrown out of the league. Stop making excuses...he is the dirtiest player in the league and needs to be treated as such. Make an example out of him the way they did with Torres!

  • Joe - 6 years ago

The RAT has done it again. Can’t help himself, dirty until the end. I get it he suffers from short man síndrome, but there is no need to get off the ice and put your hands in any players face like that. He could have curled into his little ball of hate and endured the collision. Throw the book at him, and charge him double

  • Glenna - 6 years ago

How soon we forget.... Matt Cooke's hit on Marc Savard (whose career ended shortly thereafter). Cooke didn't receive a penalty for that blind-sided hit,, he continued to play dirty for 300+ games, and he has never made an apology.
Then there's the Todd Bertuzzi/Steve Moore incident. Bertuzzi got a 20 game suspension when he should have been sent to jail for attempted murder.... yes he did apologise, only after the media made it national news.

  • Kenneth Wirth - 6 years ago

Come on Boston Fans, he did it, we know it, you know it... Hopefully the NHL tees him up this time without under inflating his punishment.

  • Bob Riley - 6 years ago

Doesn't look to me as if he's TRYING to get out of the way...rest of the season and the playoffs...OUT... don't let the door hot you in the keister Marchand!

  • Eric Shepard - 6 years ago

There was ZERO intent on that play. There should be no fine or suspension. Watch if full time speed. He clearly was turning to go back up ice. As he turned that player happend to be there. Does Marchand have eyes in the back of his head? And yes he clearly was trying to avoid hitting him.. When your a guy like Marchand your going to have people who will say it was dirty becaise of bias and hate foe him. No matter what he does, everyone who dislikes him will see everything he does as intentional. And to those who said things about a head shot, it was a knee injury so that Savard comment is just plain ignorant.

  • Jack - 6 years ago

No intent! He leaves his feed and puts his hand still holding the stick across the guys head? He could have just gone around him with minimal contact. Great player but a very dirty goon. 5+ games for sure. Pronger and B Clarke were great players too but that didn’t stop them from hurting people and going down as two of the dirtiest players ever. If the NHL wants to stop this stuff they need to get serious with their suspensions. This is now a trend with this clown. Where are the enforcers??

  • tim - 6 years ago

yes i am a bruins fan.yes marchand is a instigator or what people call a rat but he is the type of player all you not bruins fans would love on their team...what do you think would happen to crosby? come on he chopped off a finger and not even a slashing penalty...marchand is not the face of the nhl that's why

  • Dan H - 6 years ago

Marchand is a waste of talent. He continues to act like a second rate goon. All you people talking about how he was trying to get out of the way ... Yet players are probably put in this same scenario, and I'll tell you their first reaction isn't "I'll just clothes line this guy." Marchand is the Grayson Allen of hockey. Throw the book at him and suspend him 15+

  • Bobby Smith - 6 years ago

Crosby chops a finger off and nothing,Marchand does this and your calling for his head?BS.

  • Brendan - 6 years ago

I heard the guys on NHL network say there is likely not going to be a review on this hit. Glad to see cooler heads prevail on this one. He's a dirty player, but there's no intent on this play.

  • Rob Fraser - 6 years ago

This guy is a danger to the game. Suspend him for a long time a la Raffe Torres. I sincerely doubt it will make an impression on him, but at least players will be safe for a while.

  • Jimmy - 6 years ago

He'll get a fine. You know why? Because the NHL considers him a star, and unless someone's lying motionless on the ice after he levels someone on a late hit, they'll continue to applaud him at the all star game.

I expect better from him, I expect better from the NHL, but I most of all expect better from Boston fans. They lost Marc Savard, to a similar type of play this scumbag doles out monthly. Marc freaking Savard, who was on his way to the hall of fame, and was one of the best players to put on a Bruins sweater. After you lose an all time great, how could you support a scumbag like Marchand?

  • Chris - 6 years ago

The poll asks how many games will he GRT, not how many does he deserve. He deserves 8; he’ll probably get 0. This is Brad Marchand, after all, who gets suspended once for every 10 times he deserves it.

  • Joe - 6 years ago

How about showing the replay in real time? What a joke

  • Peter - 6 years ago

Matt u obviously r a Boston fan. Kellys u hit the nail on the head, he should kicked out of the league. Hopefully someone kicks the he'll out of him

  • Kelly - 6 years ago

Love the BS around all of this. First off, he in no way tried to avoid hitting that guy. Both skates left the ice in the attempt to close line him. Right off the bat that should be a match penalty and considering his long ass history of this crap he shouldn't be allowed to play in this league ever again no matter how "talented" of a player he is. But I full expect to read that he will get his usual 2 or 3 game suspension and a token fine that basically amounts to tit money for him. Then they will shake their finger at him and say now don't do this again or we will have to really punish you, which he knows is total BS. I mean seriously, if you dry that out you can fertilize the lawn kind of BS. If some forth line player from say Ottawa or Phoenix pulled this you can bet the league would slap the maximum suspension on them. Just once I would like to see the league grow a pair and really give him the suspension he deserves. Tell him he is done for the season and they will consider his return next season upon review.

  • Kevin - 6 years ago

I hope someone hurts him bad..
    He's a cheap shot artist..

  • Peter - 6 years ago

He is nothing going but trouble. Should set an example and throw him out for the remainder of the season, including the playoffs.

  • Matt - 6 years ago

It should NOT even warrant a DPS hearing. Was incidental contact. He tried to avoid it too.

  • DAP - 6 years ago

I’m sorry, but I blame how the game has changed where you can’t give a guy like him a beating. These fines and suspensions obviously aren’t doing anything to deter this rat! I do hope someone on the ice takes it upon himself to just give him a sound and thorough smack down, then maybe just maybe he’d think twice the next time around. Do that, or suspend him 1/2 a year! Make his pocketbook actually hurt!

  • Rob - 6 years ago

He is very good at making it look accidental , but after this many incidents maybe it is time for the N H L to really look at it for what it is , before a very serious incident happens. 5 games didn't do it last time maybe 10 to 15 game suspension would along with a hefty fine donated to injured players favorite charity.

  • Brandan - 6 years ago

How can he not get 6 games for this
