I find the results of the poll interesting . I wonder to what extent - given this is an English language newspaper - whether the 50:50 split may reflect the diference in attitudes of Americans versus Canadians to the bogey man word "socialist"?

In the end it is the narcos who will decide.

AMLO is the last hope in the Mexican Universe. If he doesn't win the next presidental election, me and most Mexicans are doomed. Keith, your comments are accurate and smart; you are one of those cultivated foreigners who have understood what the economic, social, and political situation is like in Mexico.

I will nevr forget AMLO's actions after the last election.
Especially his blatant disregard for the needs of the very people he had promised to protect and whose lives he had promised to make better.
    Empty lies...
After he lost his second bid for the Presidency,. his spiteful and childish behaviour convinced me he was not to be trusted.
IMHO, Lopez Obrador is putting up a better front this time, but I do not trust him any further than I trust the serial liar the we ended up putting in the WH. .

I am not eligible to vote, but as I am married to a Mexican national, I may be able to in the next election. AMLO is not some scary extremist; he is basically a Mexican Bernie Sanders who also had my support. Mexico under AMLO's presidency will continue to be capitalist and the rich will continue to be rich, but his policies will make life a bit easier for the working majority of the people. I could have only been swayed from voting for AMLO if Marichuy had stronger support. Moreno, PT, y los Zapatistas represent the spirit of 1910. Viva la revolucion!
