Still no answer on why anyone would need/want a hand gun!
Possessing a firearm that's purpose is anything but hunting should be illegal.
Their are many cases that legal gun owners have had their guns stolen, Kids taken them, used inappropriately and innocent people have died. Why must you own a hand gun?
Why do so many kids, moms, dads, family members...... have to pay the price of their lives so that some people can possess a hand gun that's sole purpose is to kill?

need and want are two different things.
When a society equates want with need, it is a slippery slope that infringes upon everybodys freedom.

As a legal handgun owner, I have been vetted by the government as someone who can be trusted to possess, store and safely operate a firearm. If bob down the street misbehaves with a firearm in a criminal or negligent way, how does that have anything to do with the trust placed in me?

So being an RPAL holder, I had my daily criminal background check done today, did you? Passed with flying colours of course.
However your local gang members, drug dealers, violent offenders, pedophiles, rapists, and arsonists did not undergo a daily criminal background check because that would infringe upon their rights.

Bill C-71 is the Liberal bill, that will add additional checks on people like me, the good guys, while the Liberals totally ignore the other group, the bad guys.

How does this make Canadians safer? It doesn't. We need real legislation to combat guns and gangs.
Bill C-71 fails to do this.

All Canadians should be concerned about this. The Liberals are failing us in so many ways.

Handguns are already banned in the hands of a criminal. We banned drugs too, and look how well that is working.

You all say this but innocent people/kids die because of hand guns each year in Canada. I'm not apposed of hunting riffles for the purpose of hunting! Why would anyone ever need/want a hand gun? We all need to focus on a peacefull society. Look after one another, pay it forward, help your heighbour, help the elderly, raise our kids to feel Safe and free.

The day that the people accept "need" as a justification for owning something is the day freedom dies. Nobody "needs" to jump out planes, own a car or motorcycle that goes faster than 100km/h, heck nobody "needs" to golf yet the number of people in Canada struck by lightning in a year is more than those gunned down by legal gun owners with handguns.

Canada's firearms owners receive mandatory training and backgrounds prior to getting a firearms license. They are subjected to "continuous eligibility screening" every day - meaning they are checked against police databases EVERY SINGLE DAY. Firearms must be stored according to the safe storage regulations and violating them it no simple fine; its a criminal code charge.

Stop hassling the most law-abiding citizens in the country and go after the actual criminals. The problem is our so-called Justice system that has no teeth, and the criminals know it!

Geez Kevin, you sound just like Allen Rock ! As usual,law-abiding gun owners are being tarred with the same brush as the criminal element, even more so,because they aren't any trouble to catch. The regulations to own and store handguns are very strict. Those who legally own them do so for a variety of reasons, but they take the responsibility seriously, knowing that it only takes a paper oversight to wind up in the courts. The Liberal government is once again going after the wrong people with bill C71.

Telling others what they need or don't need is arrogant without exception. If citizens have repeatedly been vetted then the argument of "NEED" is irrelevant. If you don't like something, don't have that something but how dare you demand that just because you don't like something that others shouldn't be allowed. In a free society, it's not up to you it's up to the individual or would you prefer an authoritarian, fascist dictatorship for your safety? If someone breaks the law, charge them to the fullest extent, if someone PROVES they are unsafe then remove any harmful articles from their person. It's equated to I don't like gardens because they affect the appearance of my property and bring down property value, farmers grow enough for all so because I don't like them and they make my property less valuable then no gardens in the city. Who am I to make that judgement and choice for all?

Their is no need for a person to have a hand gun in Canada unless your a Police officer!!!
I don't know anyone that believes in them. Someone spent a lot of time voting multiple times!!

Gun violence is being done with illegally owned guns. It's like flooding the wrong house with water to put out a different house that's on fire.

It's never going to work. Don't take my word for it, just do it and see.

    So stupid.
