This is left out of the narrative: Clark was get another black thug. He had been charged with domestic violence, pimping and burglary. He died because he wouldn't comply.

The man in Sacramento was filmed smashing car windows at night, and was being tracked by a police helicopter. He was a criminal. Why is that being downplayed by the media?

More than 800000 police officers will contact more than 20 million people each year. About 30000 will be arrested. Fewer than 30000 complaints will be received. Deadly force will result in the death of about 1000 Americans. Every death is its own tragedy both for the family of the descedent and for the officers involved. More than 60% of those killed will be white males. While black males make up roughly 6% of the American population, this demographic is responsible for more than 50% of homicides in this country. They are responsible for more than 50% of sexual assaults. They are responsible for more than 50% of robberies and aggravated robberies. They are responsible for 40% of aggravated assaults. I firmly believe these statistics have virtually nothing to do with race or genetics. This is a cultural, environmental, and legitimate access to the American dream (this is the only place race applies). I think it is predictable that the most criminally violent segment of the population is the most likely group to have force and deadly force applied by the police. I also think it becomes a natural survival bias for police to have a hyper level of vigilance with this population. The issue of police interaction with young black men is merely a symptom or tip of the iceberg to a much more complex societal issue. Scapegoating the police will fix nothing and just encourage the trend of depolicing to continue.
