What is your opinion of prayer at public meetings?

    Peter -

Try voting twice and see what happens. As Jeff noted it does not allow it. The reason the votes jumped like they did was because people became aware of the poll when word
about it started spreading on social media. I'm sorry you think people are manipulating the results, but the simple reality is the vote total is an accurate reflection of how people in this town feel.

    Pete and Jeff

I tried to revote and it does not let you be counted twice just FYI. The poll really isn't necessary anyway this is a local government not a federal government. With that said atheists can bitch all they want it won't matter our Mayor and counsel will not be bullied and will always choose prayer. And the house of representatives and the Senate start every opening day with a prayer led by a preacher followed by the pledge of allegiance and yes the democrats always participate.

Jeff, when the Port Angeles paper runs a poll there's a block on it preventing people from voting more than once. This poll has no such block, thereby enabling people to vote as many times as they wish. It ends up being worthless, as no reliable data can be ascertained from it.

Peter you must be referring to the portion of the last election pertaining only to residents inside the City of Forks (mayor, city council, etc). However, the Forks Forum serves a much larger area than just the city limits — think Lapush, Hoh, Clallam Bay/Sekiu, Beaver, Lake Crescent, Kalaloch, and everywhere in between. A better comparison would be the recent election concerning the hospital district even though the candidates were, I think, unopposed and probably didn’t have as high a voting rate per capita within their district as say the mayoral election.
Not saying it wasn’t tampered with, but the facts you are citing aren’t really relevant to this forum (no pun intended).
Also, there’s a Facebook link right on the poll...

Reports are saying this poll was heavily skewed by people posting multiple times, some hundreds of yes votes occurring in just a few minutes.

    One person reports, "Cross-posted
Unfortunately the poll about prayer at civil meetings that the Forum sponsored has been compromised. I watched the #s all of a sudden start exploding from Monday evening to Tuesday evening - hundreds of votes posted in short amounts of time (within 10-15 minutes) everytime I checked - all in favor of "yes, it's fine with me". I think last time I checked there were over 800 votes total, about 3 times the # of people in Forks that voted in the last election. Surveys like this, especially from the polling company that was used, are easily manipulated (I know this because I use surveys frequently when doing my online work with educators). I hope the results will not be shared or, if so, the fact that the whole thing is compromised should be also noted. This is sad because the idea of it was good and I appreciated the Forum doing such a survey..."

Why should prayer not be asked for? Because Constitution.

I cannot believe this is even being discussed. The left is tearing our country apart they have empowered people to complain and challenge the rights of the majority. If you do not like prayer don't participate. I cannot understand why it is ok for one person to not like God and prayer so governments will stop and take away the right of hundreds or thousands who love God and like to pray. Athiests leave the room and shut up.

Without inviting God into anything to help the meeting should just wrap up... But with God he opens up the impossible to be possible... and gives the wisdom to solve all
