I know there are a lot of Yankees on the list and I'm all for belittling their lineup, but I feel Didi Gregorius is a name worth putting up there with everyone for talks of the second best player in baseball (behind Mike Trout of course).

I don't think Mookie's defense should be so easily dismissed because he plays right field. He plays right field in Fenway Park... where you need a CF to play right field. On almost any other team he would be a CF, and would almost certainly be in the GG discussion if not for Bradley Jr. and Kiermaier. The same can be said for Trout btw... as good as he is... he isn't a better defender than those two. If anything Mookie is a better defensive outfielder than Trout. Trout hits for more power, more consistently, but these two are probably going to finish 1-2 in WAR this season. It should be a fun MVP race to watch in the AL, especially if Didi Gregorious and Xander Bogaerts (assuming he comes back we'll from injury) continue to rake. Altuve will be in the mix too. Should be fun. But regarding the survey it was close, at least for me, between Mookie and Bryce Harper. I went with Mookie by the narrowest of margins.
