The body, soul, and spirit of man

Man is a tri-partite being. He has three aspects of his being which are, the spirit, the soul, and the body (I Thess.5: 23). The spirit and the soul are inseparable but they can be separated from the body. The separation of the spirit and the body is called, “physical death” (James 2: 26). When the separation occurs, the spirit and the soul will remain conscious, but the body will gradually decay and be turned to dust (Ecc.3: 20; 12: 7). A man who is physically alive yet his spirit is not right with God is called in the Bible as “spiritually dead” (1 Tim.5: 6). The Spirit of God regenerates a man’s spirit at the point he believes in Jesus as personal Lord and Savior (Eph. 2: 1). When such happens, God’s Spirit will begin working in his life and influencing him through his regenerated spirit (Rom.8: 16).
