Would cutting mail delivery service to five days a week save the U.S. Postal Service?
Yes. Aggressive cost cutting is the only tactic that will help the Postal Service meet its monetary requirement.
No. Down-sizing service to meet recession-level demand is short-sighted and, in the long run, will result in lost business and revenue.
It's a temporary fix. Ultimately, the Postal Service needs to stem the decline in demand by obtaining products and services to leverage its retail and distribution network.
Not sure; at this point, I do most of my mailing online, and can't say whether cutting down on services by a day would truly affect me or the system.
