Why are Amazon Web Services and Rackspace So Much More Popular with Startups?
The cost is far less to use AWS and Rackspace.
Developers do not have as much flexibility with platforms such as Windows Azure or Google App Engine.
The productivity is far better on these types of infrastructure environments.
Startups prefer these services but as companies mature, needs will change. That may mean moving onto services that are more attuned to the market demands they face.
These services are great now but competing platforms will get better and have ease of portability. The market is just emerging.
