I would love to say yes to 1 billion dollars and there are plenty of things that I could do! Travel, actually get around to drumming once in a while, watch movies( haven't seen one in about a year), finally get around to reading all those books stacking up by my bed. But I take the poll to mean forever and including ALL forms of woodworking, even whittling. I would go stir crazy! I only discovered woodworking after going to college for art. Call me a dreamer, but for me, this is the first thing I found that I've become passionate about the more involved I become. Even after working as a carpenter for almost 2 years, I love it, and just to think of a world where I couldn't do it makes me sad; and to think that I would do that to myself... It's unconscionable. You can't buy true happiness, you can only buy shinny toys to distract you from your discontent. If I were into this as a hobby just to fill the time, hell yeah! I'd take the money. But if this is something you truly love to do, if you dream in tulipwood, and holly, I would rather be poor and happy then rich beyond my dreams with suicidal depression. So no, I couldn't take the money.
Several years ago a few senior staff members decided it would take 13m in lotto win to change our life style. Many had comprable hobbies like flying or sailing. that's what it would take to move on the the next expensive vice.

I'd sell my shop for 10M and seek solace in pottery or painting.

It depends on your estimate as to how long you have to live before you go to the wood working shed above

"For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
I would never quit woodworking.
