Anyone who does not vote for the 1981 LSU Basketball Team obviously is a child who was not born to remember this squad. The absolute best basketball team in LSU history. It was a shame to see them lose to Isiah Thomas and Indiana in the Final Four. Rudy Macklin, Greg Cook, Ethan Martin, Howard Carter, Leonard Mitchell, the Cookie Monster, Greg Cook, Willie Sims and little Johnny Jones. Blew through the SEC, the NCAA regionals, then lost to Indiana in the 2nd half of the Final Four. Weirdest thing I ever seen. Came out in the 2nd half of that game and could not hit the street with the basketball. 31 and 4 before this lost. Best record ever. I can go on. Youngsters! Take notice and do your homework before you vote.

The folks voting for the 2009 team, which was second best, are younger than us folks who were around for the 1981 team. Let's see-17 SEC wins in a row against better league competition, I believe they were 29-2 at one point. They were the best team in the country that year all season but fell to Indiana inthe final 4. They were at least 10 points better than the 2009 gang. Ethan Martin, Rudy Macklin.Willie Sims, Leonard Mitchell, Howard Carter, Greg Cook. They didn't squeek by good teams on the way to the final 4, they beat up on some good teams.

If you voted for the 2006 team over the 1981 team, it is highly likely you never saw the 1981 team play. The 1981 team is the best LSU basketball team I have ever seen.
