That sounds good Sean, but as you might remember a few years ago two police officers were in their car having lunch in New York when a Scumb Bag came up behind them and shot and killed them both.Even 2 cops together can never let their guard down for a second. And we the silent majority need to do what we can to help them. Maybe a law that states you kill a cop you forfeit YOUR LIFE.End of story

Good posts by Sean and Mary Anne. We, as a nation need to get a grip on what these fine people actually do and get over political correctness and our eagerness to be offended when a mistake is made.......

I think Police need more training in when to shoot and where, but,in general,I think they get the training they need.

I agree with Sean that this is indeed a broad-based question. Without a doubt, they should be updated on the latest tactics and techniques in order to better protect the citizens as well as themselves. If this question pertains to "sensitivity" training, absolutely not. The brave men and women in our police forces put their lives on the line every time they're told to investigate alleged domestic abuse, every time they stop a suspicious vehicle, etc. and even, it seems ,when they are just innocently pumping gas into their police car! What we need is basic training in civility by the people the police are sworn to protect! Where is the outrage over the Black Lives Matter rabble-rousers chanting, "Pigs in a blanket. Fry 'em in a pan." Something is terribly wrong when a political party welcomes this group into their fold. Yet this party, the White House and the DOJ fail to denounce the cold-blooded murders of police this past week? There is a war on the police and God help us if the bad guys win.
They need to shoot but not kill wound !!
2 cops to EVERY !! car

That is such a broad based question. In the military you get your initial training and then you are continuously getting more training for mission specific events and new tactics and technologies. I am sure law enforcement is the same. As far as addressing problems in big cities which Maine really doesn't have I think the best solution is go back to two city cops in a car instead of calling for backup. If a cop has a partner they can feel safer developing a situation together before things escalate to deadly force. One can then deal with a combative person with non lethal means while the other covers the situation with lethal means if the situation turns deadly.
Martial law is coming! And we'll vote for it!
